  • Greetings!

We're pleased the new format of newsletter seemed to be liked by a number of people, thanks for letting us know! It was the first time we received 'fan mail'!

One of the things the new newsletter format can do if produce statistics or 'reports' as they like to call them. Talk about 'Big Brother's watching YOU' We sent the newsletter out to 410 'subscribers' - that's YOU folks! Just over 2/3 (269) of you actually opened the email and only a third (89) of the total number of people we sent it to actually clicked on any of the links inside the email. We even know who clicked on which links! Some of you clicked on multiple links and so were obviously very interested in the information. Thanks!

We're not sure if having all this 'data' is actually very useful - it feels quite dispiriting to know that only 48 of our database of over 400 people actually know the details of our Four day Essentials in Sexual Minority Therapy training course, and only 32 people know about the 2 year Post Qualifying specialist training course in sexual minority therapy - this course is a world first! You can see we're very excited about it. We could almost afford to send each of you a bottle of champagne to celebrate its launch with us!

Seriously, we're hoping a few more people will 'click through' this time round and check out the courses. If you're not interested - there's no problem but you may be disappointed if you try to book a place on either of the Essentials course or the PQ Professional Training if you leave it too late. The Closing date for booking for these trainings is 1st August otherwise we will have to pay cancellation charges on the room bookings. That means you have less than a month to book for these courses.

If you are thinking about coming on either course, then please do book soon. If you are not interested in the courses, it would be really helpful to know what you thought about the programmes. We are interested to find out why these programmes, which we think there is a need for, are not attracting the sort of interest we had hoped for. As you can imagine quite a lot of planning has gone into putting the courses together, and if people aren't interested it would be useful to know this so that we don't put our energies in the wrong direction. We're wondering whether it's price, content, day of the week, or something else? We are really interested to know more.

    Professional Development Workshops

Our other workshops and seminars - on alcohol and drugs, loneliness, lesbian fusion, psychosexual therapy etc. are also going to be amazing training opportunities. Please check them out

    Queer Analysis Conference

The leaflet has been designed and will be printed next week. We will also be emailing you full details about the conference. We anticipate this conference will be very popular and so early booking is advised.

    Gay Men's Therapy Group

Charles Neal, one of our Clinical Associates has spaces in his gay men's therapy group. Here's what he has to say about it:

"An unusual opportunity has arisen this Autumn for 3 men to join Charles Neal's ongoing fortnightly gay men's group in North London. This is a combined therapy and support group meeting near Finsbury Park from 7 til 10pm on about 6 Thursday evenings and one whole weekend day each 'term' ( x3 terms a year). The group, for men with experience of therapy who wish to work with others longer term, is usually full and has been running for more than ten years. Read more about the work of the group in 'We are Family' (Chapter 7 of Pink Therapy Vol. 3. edited by C. Neal & D. Davies, Open University Press, 2000). The cost is 330 per term and Charles can be contacted about joining on 07956196826. "
