The featured speaker will be Barbara Anthony, Undersecretary, Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. Anthony was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick in 2009. She has spent her career promoting consumer causes, and is one of the state's most well-known consumer advocates and is a highly respected public interest lawyer.

Also speaking will be Glenn Field, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service Forecast (NWS). NWS provides timely and accurate warnings and forecasts for southern New England and maintains records of climate data. They are a leader in science research, training and outreach.

Catholic Charities South, a community service center of Catholic Charities of Boston, is a vital community resource, Catholic Charities South Opens New Home offering a continuum of care to 24,000 families in Norfolk and Plymouth Counties each year. The agency provides basic needs emergency services, including a food pantry and financial assistance, as well as family support services and youth mentoring; English, GED and job training classes; and an elder outreach program. Saturday, October 9: Opening of Photo Clay: In the Picture with Warren Mather, featuring 27 works by this innocative ceramic artist. A constant innovator, Mather developed a technical process of firing photographic, video, or computer generated images in glaze on a ceramic body. The images are printed in glaze onto wet clay using a silkscreen before the bisque firing, followed by clear glaze and final firing. The result is an image that seems to emerge from the clay rather than simply printed on the surface, and is capable an astonishing level of detail and clarity.The exhibition runs from October 9 through January 23, 2011, and there is a reception on October 24 from 2-5pm. The Metro South Chamber receives numerous daily requests from new arrivals, tourists and businesses for maps of the area.  The first round of maps, produced earlier this year, sold out in 2 months.  Due to high demand, the Chamber will be producing a new Brockton Street Map this Fall!  The Brockton map is a double sided 4-color process publication containing a street guide, libraries, post offices, police departments, schools, hospitals and more.  This year, the back side of the map will contain a restaurant listing of the City of Brockon.
