Michael BradyThe featured speaker at the next Government Affairs Meeting will be State Representative Michael Brady. Michael Brady was born and raised in Brockton.  Has has represented the 9th Plymouth District and Ward 2 since 1996, first as a  Member of the School Committee (1996-1997), then as a City Councilor (1997-2009) and City Council President (2002).  In 2008, Brady was elected State Representative of the Ninth Plymouth District.

Brady currently serves on the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies, the Joint Committee on Public Health and the Joint Committee on Public Service.

Join us on Wednesday, September 22 at the Westgate Conference Center (formerly Holiday Inn) for the kickoff of the Good Morning Metro South Breakfast Program Series.  The featured speaker will be Charlie Baker, 2010 Candidate for Governor.

Charlie BakerCharlie Bakerhas spent his career bringing success and strong management to both the private and public sectors in Massachusetts. Among the highlights of his career are helping to start the Pioneer Institute for Public Policy Research and working for the Weld/Cellucci Administration as Undersecretary for Health in the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.  In addition, Baker served as Secretary of Health and Human Services and also served as Secretary of Administration and Finance.  In this position, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Governor's Association in 1998.
Following this, Baker became CEO of Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates (HVMA) and was soon recruited by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care to serve as its CEO.

The Metro South Chamber receives numerous daily requests from new arrivals, tourists and businesses for maps of the area.  The first round of maps, produced earlier this year, sold out in 2 months.  Due to high demand, the Chamber will be producing a new Brockton Street Map this Fall!  The Brockton map is a double sided 4-color process publication containing a street guide, libraries, post offices, police departments, schools, hospitals and more.  This year, the back side of the map will contain a restaurant listing of the City of Brockon.

Thursday, September 9: Philosopher Thomas Pogge, "The Other Side of Globalization" at the Martin Institute Auditorium on the campus of Stonehill College, 320 Washington Street, N. vendors for its 21st annual Country Fair & Chicken Barbecue Craft Fair. The event will be held on Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of Good Samaritan Medical Center, 235 N. Pearl St., Brockton. The participation fee for craft vendors will be $35 for one space and $60 for two spaces. Sunday, September 26: Join New England Sinai for the "Stepping Up" Walkathon and help to support seniors.  The 5k Walkathon begins and ends at the Striar YMCA at 445 Central Street in Stoughton.  The walk begins at 9:30am, registration at 8:30am.  Proceeds raised will fund scholarships to Sinai's Adult Day Health Program, which has been providing safe and attentive care since 1983. Old Colony Planning Council, the regional planning agency for Abington, Avon, Bridgewater, Brockton, East Bridgewater, Easton, Halifax, Hanson, Kingston, Pembroke, Plymouth, Plympton, Stoughton, West Bridgewater and Whitman, is in the process of updating the Regional Transportation Plan. The Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) helps to determine how federal and state funding will be spent on transportation infrastructure and services in the next 20 years.
