This concert will feature music from The Shilakowsky String Quartet, led by Chamber Member Harris Shilakowsky, performing romantic and classical peices. Dove Award winner and Grammy nominee, jazz singer Donna McElroy and her band from Berklee College of Music faculty will join in jazz tunes from the 'Great American Songbook" and songs from McElroy's CD, "Fly to Forever."

Shilakowsky has performed as the guest leader of the London Symphony Orchestra, was concertmaster for the European Tour of My Fair Lady, and was the solo violinist for the German production of Sunset Boulevard. In addition, he is the former concertmaster of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the New Orleans Symphony, the Omaha Symphony, the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Orquestra Sinfonica de Las Palmas and the Des Moines Metro Opera Orchestra.

McElroy has worked with such artists as Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, BeBe and CeCe Winans and Amy Grant, arranging and singing back-up. She is a recent Grammy nominee for Bigger World, a Dove Award recipient for Songs from the Lofts and a 1993 Best Actress Award recipient for the Circle Players' performance of Sister Mary Regina in Nunsense. Television appearances include Arsenio Hall, the Tonight Show, and the Grammy Awards.

Regional Water Forum

The Metro South Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a regional water forum on Wednesday June 23 from 6:30 - 8:30 at the Shaw's Center in Brockton. Mayor Linda Balzotti, Alfredo Andres of Inema USA, and officials from various state and local water authorities will meet to discuss the future of regional water supply in the region.

Inema USA owns and operates the only desalination plant in New England on the banks of the Taunton River in the town of Dighton. The plant is licensed to supply water to communities and private users within Southeastern Massachusetts. Also on the agenda will be regional sewer capacity needs. Several local communities have identified the need for future sewer capacity with no clear plans approved for addressing the anticipated need.

Saturday, July 17: Second Annual Fundraiser for the American Dream Team at Hamids Academy.  5:00 pm.  Admission- $10. The funds collected will be used for Hamids Academy Afterschool Program and Summer Camp. Monday, July 19: 17th Annual OE+ Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Brockton Area Arc at the Fall River Country Club, 4235 North Main Street, Fall River. Registration and contests will take place from 12-1pm with the shotgun start at 1:15pm, cocktails and 6pm, and dinner and awards at 6:45pm.  Cost per player is $175 which includes golf, cart, dinner, goodie bag and entry into the "skins" contest. A Players Package is available for $25 and includes entry into the chipping, putting, and 50/50 contests along with $50 of raffle tickets. $10,000 cash for a whole in one. The Brockton Area Arc works to provide information and direct services for individuals with disabilities and their families.
