Harvey Hirschhorn      The keynote speaker will be Harvey B. Hirschhorn, CFA, Managing Director & Chief Portfolio Strategist/ Economist. Harvey B. Hirschhorn oversees the development and implementation of allocation strategies for clients served by the Global Wealth & Investment Management division of Bank of America. In this role, he evaluates the current and expected market environments and determines their potential impact on investment portfolios. 
       Singing the national anthem will be Brockton High School Seniors Chris Louis and Mark Joseph. Also at this event, Economic Impact awards will be presented. Last year's networking event brought together a crowd of nearly 300 business professionals and entrepreneurs. This is a great opportunity to meet members from surrounding chambers.

Noel was appointed by Governor Patrick to serve as Director of the Massachusetts Department of Labor in January 2007. As Director, he oversees the Department of Industrial Accidents, the Division of Occupational Safety, the Board of Conciliation and Arbitration, the Labor Relations Committee and the Joint Labor-Management Committee. Noel brings decades of experience in labor-management relations and advocacy for workers and working families to the position.

November 5, 2009 - "Night on the Town" to benefit Old Colony Hospice @ Grand Ballroom, Granite Links, Quincy MA.  Join us for our fall gala to benefit the patients and families in our care. Saturday, November 7: The Brockton Historical Society in collaboration with the Cape Verde Association, present Voyages from Cape Verde to Brockton and surrounding areas. 2-5pm at the Brockton Public Library Lingos Room. This is the first in an ongoing series to get to know, respect and appreciate our neighbors' talents and gifts.  Dr. Aminah Pilgrim, historian and professor at UMass, Boston and current president of the Cape Verdean Association along with Dr. Joao Rosa, Professor at UMass, Dartmouth will present.  There will also be songs, poetry, art and light refreshments. Tuesday, November 10: The Marge Levy Spirit of Hospice Award 2009 will be presented at the Annual Meeting event scheduled for Tuesday, November 10 at the Shaw's Center.  The award is presented to someone who, through their outstanding involvement and dedication, has made a significant contribution of leadership, contributed to the achievement of organizational mission or service which has improved or enriched the lives of others and the welfare of our clients and their families, and whose accomplishments reflect admirably on or has brought distinction to Old Colony Hospice. Wendesday, November 11: On November 11th 2009 at 4:00 pm. the Joseph W. Martin Institute for Law and Society will welcome Pierta Rivoli who will discuss her latest book, The Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy, An Economist Examines the Markets, Power, and Politics of World Trade. Pierta Rivoli will take us on a journey into her study of the cotton industry, discussing history and economics and the effects they have on the industry today. Attend the free "Rediscover Your Reasons for Caregiving" Workshop In what is often a 24/7 situation, many caregivers are under a great deal of stress, don't get enough sleep and feel disheartened and powerless as the person they care for becomes less engaged in the present. Plan to spend a couple of hours away from caregiving and attend this workshop led by Caregiver Specialist Sheryl Leary. Thursday, November 12: Good Samaritan Medical Center will host a free community education program on lung cancer awareness in an effort to raise awareness of the American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout from 6-7pm at the Radiation/Oncology Center at Good Samaritan.  To register, please RSVP to 1-800-488-5959 x 25.

Sunday, November 15: Babysitting class at the Children's Museum in Easton, 12:30 pm-5pm with Jane Rotondi, MASpEd. Tuesday, November 17: The American Dream Demo Team Academy at Hamid's Academy in conjunction with the Friends of DuSable is holding a premier sponsorship event at West End Johnny's on the Side.  We are asking for your help, support and donations for our program/ad book with will be featured the night of the event.  Each full page ad is $300.  You will receive 2 tickets to the event or your business will be mentioned on all promotional materials.  The event will feature youth demonstrations, celebrity guests, a peformaing by Exit 18 dance group, autograph singings, a Rocky Marciano video and silent auction.  For more information, contact Doug Pendarvis at 617-592-2771.

Saturday, December 5:  City of Champtions 2009 Jingle Bell Run.  Registration at noon at the Holiday Inn, 195 Westgate Drive, Brockton.  The race will begin at 1pm. This 2 mile run/walk will benefit the Enterprise Helping Hands Fund.  Entry Fees- Adults: $20 cash or check (cash deductable), Children under 12: Bring one new unwrapped toy. Receive afree raffle ticket and enjoy delicious food donated by The Grill and other local restuarants, prizes, silend auction and holiday cheer.  Festive holiday costumes encouraged.  Prizes awarded to best children's costume, best adult costume and best team. Thursday, December 10: The Massachusetts Conference for Women at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.  Register online at maconferenceforwomen.org. The gathering of goblins will begin at 2pm in the Children's Play Area.  Waldenbooks will host an array of activities from story time to arts and crafts along with a costume contest.

Select stores will be distributing goodies at 3pm.  Look for balloons outside participating stores and see mall customer service desk for details.  Children must be 12 years or younger and accompanied by an adult.
