"A Time to Sow" August 15, 2012

One of the things that I love most about gardening is watching seeds sprout. It continues to amaze me that a tiny, almost invisible seed can come to life in just a few days and then within a very short time be producing beautiful flowers or, better yet, delicious food!
Two weeks ago Diana planted the first of this season's veggie seeds at The Farm. This week she is already transplanting some of them to the hydroponic towers! We are anticipating a very exciting season at The Farm, and we're looking forward to sharing our wonderful crops with you.

A Time to Plan
If you haven't thought about your own Fall garden yet, it's a great time to begin. Much like going on vacation, planning is half the fun! Our first display of seeds has arrived from Botanical Interests, and we expect new vegetable starter plants to arrive in just a few weeks.
When our weekly seminars start up again in September, our very first seminar (September 1) will be on preparing your fall garden. This will also be Merrideth's last day at the garden center; September 3 will be her first day at The Flower Farm at Rockledge Gardens, where she will be growing beautiful flowering hanging baskets as well as some specialty annuals and perennials. We'll be adding more color than ever in our annual and perennial department in the coming months!
Visit the seminars page on our website for a listing of all the fun and informative seminars and events we have planned for September and October.

Welcome Kaydie!
We are very happy to welcome Kaydie McCormick to our Rockledge Gardens family. Kaydie is a recent graduate of Florida Southern College with a double major in Horticulture Production and Design. Kaydie will be the new face in our annual and perennial department, and she is very enthusiastic about being a part of our team. Be sure to introduce yourself when you come in. |
A Time for Tropicals
While officially we only have one more month of summer to go, our plants and flowers are still enjoying the tropical climate. Gingers and heliconias, hibiscus and crotons, and many others are peak right now. Have a look at this week's "garden treasures."
