Client Corner: Working with Coppia Communications

In my May newsletter, I shared with you a brief summary of a client case study involving a leadership triad comprised of two best friends and the spouse of one of the two female owners.

We began our process with each completing a DISC online assessment, followed by a debriefing to help them use the reports to better understand their own unique communication styles as well as those of the other members of this triad.

We transitioned into developing an organization chart to build a foundation from which to help them to clarify their roles and responsibilities.

The three executives have made great progress, are continuing to develop their roles and responsibilities, as well as those of certain key employees.

To assist in the process of restructuring their organizational roles, their key employees have also completed the DISC assessment. The information was useful for them in matching employees with key roles and planning role refinements.

Most recently, I conducted a "What Works/What Doesn't Work" exercise with their team. This is a highly interactive and effective collaborative process that identifies areas for improvement.

As a group, I met with all of the employees, except for management/owners to gather collective, anonymous feedback regarding the gaps and challenges of the company. The meeting produced succinct and insightful feedback.

A follow-up meeting was held with the owners to prioritize the group's items for improvement implementation, and the owners identified their top three initial areas for improvement. Next, I will facilitate a solutions brainstorming session with the combined group, including all employees, in cooperation with the managers/owners.

Allison's Speaking Events

Comerica Bank's annual Women's Initiative event for their Middle Market women business owners and executive leaders will be held in October at Wente Vineyards.

I was proudly engaged as their private event speaker, presenting Communicate With Style, Understanding Communication Styles.

I've attended Comerica's previous annual women's initiative events and I am excited to be returning this year as their program speaker. This year's event will include Girls Inc, as their charity beneficiary.

Do you have a group that you'd like to invite me to as a guest speaker?

Walked for the Cure

Thank you again to all of my colleagues and friends who supported me and the cause as I walked 39.3 miles in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer on July 7th-8th.

I walked in honor of my friend Laurie, who celebrated her tenth year as a survivor; my mom, Gladys, who was a 20-year survivor and passed away last year, as well as every person who will benefit from the awareness and fundraising to which my participation contributed. It was a successful and rewarding experience thanks, in part, to many of you!

Hello, Colleagues, Clients and Friends:

I hope that you had a fantastic summer! My newsletter went dark during the summer, so this month I have a great deal of interesting information to share with you, including client case study updates as well as exciting developments.

Allison Tabor
Allison S. Tabor is the new Diablo Valley Chapter Chair of the Women President's Organization (WPO)

I am happy to announce that I have been selected as the new Women President's Organization (WPO) Diablo Valley Chapter Chair/Facilitator.

I am succeeding my esteemed colleague Dr. Ann Blackburn, who facilitated WPO's Diablo Valley Chapter for more than eight years.

It is my personal honor and privilege to associate with WPO, a respected international nonprofit membership organization for women presidents and CEOs of multimillion dollar companies.

WPO's members take part in professionally facilitated peer advisory groups to bring the "genius out" of the group and accelerate the growth of their businesses. WPO has more than 109 chapters and 1,600 members throughout five countries.

Recently, I attended WPO's annual facilitator's conference in Chicago, where I learned a great deal and met incredible professional facilitators from all over the world, including South America, MENA ( the Middle East, No. Africa) London, Canada and throughout the U.S.

A week later, along with WPO's Chief Learning Officer/VP of Chapter Chairs and nine other new facilitators, we went to the Edward Lowe Foundation training center in Michigan for extensive Roundtable Peer Advisory Leadership Training for Second Stage Entrepreneurs, in a beautiful and effective retreat setting.
