For Email Marketing you can trust
Vote for LAAC during Chase Community Giving!

We know you believe in justice. After all, it's a core value in the work that you all do.

You can bring justice to those in another way, and it's as easy as going on Facebook.

You can vote for the Legal Aid Association of California and OneJustice through Chase Community Giving. Chase awards grants to the nonprofits with the most votes - and LAAC and OneJustice can turn your vote into access to justice for even more Californians.

Vote HERE and HERE now.......(or at least before September 19).

Your vote means funding for justice for all. From all the Californians in need - we thank you.

Angélica Salceda (UC Berkley School of Law '13)
California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc.

Angélica Salceda, one of the 2012 Dan Bradley Scholarship recipients, worked at California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc this summer.

"This past summer I spent my time working with disadvantaged unincorporated communities. I worked on an array of issues and areas including analyzing new laws applicable to local governments and local agency formation commissions. Additionally, I worked directly with clients interested in connecting their community to municipal services in neighboring cities, and assisted with research to compile a comprehensive list of local city and county policies directed towards unincorporated communities."

LAAC Advocacy

LAAC continues to update our Current Advocacy page (http://laaconline.org/currentadvocacy) with the status of this session's bills.

LAAC supports  AB 1775 (Wieckowski), which has passed both houses of the legislature and has been sent to Governor Brown. If your program would like to submit a letter of support, email Denise at dwatt@laaconline.org for a template letter. Please note that LSC programs HAVE NOT been invited to comment (other than CRLA and CCLS).

AB 1775 would change the exempt earnings for wage garnishment from 25% weekly disposable earnings, or the amount the disposable earnings exceed 30 times the federal minimum wage, to 25% weekly disposable earnings, or the amount the disposable earnings exceed 40 times the California minimum wage.

If you have any questions about advocacy, contact Denise at  dwatt@laaconline.org.
