Per Walt Taylor, CF, AFA founder:
"Hazel began volunteer work with the AFA in the mid 1970's, where she took care of most of the office work from a spare bedroom in her home. She attended and helped with the first stand alone and very successful convention that was held in Fresno, CA in 1978. From that time until 1985, she devoted hours to the AFA cause, making many friends around the country and world. She enjoyed meeting all the farriers and wives, and being part of the early success of the AFA. In time, the volume of work exceeded her space, energy, and available time.
Hazel became close personal friends with lots of the AFA "old timers" and enjoyed personal conversation, correspondence and interaction with many of them. Everyone that knew her loved and respected her dedication to the AFA. She was an outstanding ambassador for the association, and the epitome of volunteerism."
