This Week on the Mountain
Fifth Sunday of Lent
March 25th

Adult Education:  Learning in Lent Every Sunday
This Sunday, our final Lenten session of Adult Education, Father Malloy will talk about the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, which will help us as we prepare to enter Holy Week and celebrate the Triduum, the three holy days of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Great Vigil of Easter, which are the central days of the Church year.

Evening Prayer on Tuesdays: Praying in Lent

On Tuesdays evenings at 6:00 pm,  the community will gather for Evening Prayer in the Chapel, followed by a simple pot-luck supper. Members of our community will preside at this simple service of prayer. Bring a dish to share for supper, and come and allow the word of God to wash over you, and pray with the assembled community, as our ancestors did before us.

Easter Plants, Flowers & Special Music

St. John on the Mountain is now accepting contributions for Easter plants, flowers, and special music. Gifts may be given either as memorials or in thanksgivings.  In order that we might publish all names in the Easter bulletins, we ask that you send in your form by Wednesday, March 28th. Click here to download a form.

Healing Service Thursday, March 29th

The Holy Eucharist with Prayers for Healing will take place on the last Thursday, of each month at noon in the chapel.  This simple service of prayer, Holy Communion, and the laying on of hands for those who desire it, is an extension of the ministry of the Pastoral Care Committee.  All are welcome.

Grace's Soup Kitchen Friday, March 30th

SJOTM will staff Grace's Soup Kitchen in Plainfield this Friday, March 30th , from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Please sign-up on the bulletin board outside the Parish Hall or contact Fenn Putman (973) 543-7017 or fennironia@earthlink.net.  For directions to Grace Church click here.

Spring Clean-Up on Saturday, March 31st

Please join us on Saturday, March 31st at 9:00 am for spring clean-up of the buildings and grounds. There's something for everyone; weeding, edging, picking-up sticks, polishing pews in the sanctuary, and gently wiping down the stained-glass windows.  Coffee and snacks will be provided.  For more information please call Beirne Donaldson at 973-476-0410.

Baptisms on Saturday, April 7th

We baptize primarily on those dates set aside for baptism, as listed in the Book of Common Prayer.  Since the presence of the community of faith is essential for welcoming the newly baptized into the church, baptisms take place in the principal service on the appointed Sunday.  The next date for Holy Baptism is April 7th, The Great Vigil of Easter.  For more information or questions, please contact Mo. Susan at rector@sjotm.org.

Quarters for Haiti: Giving in Lent

M&M tubes can be returned to Lynn Mitchell as soon as they are filled with quarters.  Please make sure all tubes are returned by April 15th (the Sunday after Easter).
