Dolly O'Neill-Mejia, born and raised in the USA, has been a member of the Central Diocese of Ecuador for 15 years. She has been serving on the companion committee for six years and was its first president. She currently represents the Ninth Province as a writer of curriculum in Spanish for the Lifelong Formation of Christian Education. She is a delegate to the National Convention and serves on the Program, Budget and Finance Committee. She is married to the Rev. Canon Marco Mejia.

Noisy Sunday
This Sunday, February 5th

During the 10:00am service on Sunday, the children will be collecting loose change in pots and pans during the offertory (hence the name "Noisy Sunday"), to give to our companion diocese in Ecuador.  So, look under those sofa cushions, clean out your junk drawers, and consider filling your pockets with coins to bring to church on Sunday.

Souper Bowl Sunday,
This Sunday, February 5th

Please join us during Coffee Hour,  this Sunday, February 5th, as the Rite 13 class makes and serves a variety of soups for Souper Bowl Sunday.  Soup will be for available for sale for immediate consumption or To Go with take-home containers.  Also, please consider bringing in a can of soup, to be donated.

New Office Hours

The Parish House Office is now open on Fridays from 8am - 3pm.

Introducing Father Patrick Malloy
Our Theologian-in-Residence

Father Malloy, Associate Dean and Professor of Liturgics at The General Theological Seminary, will be our theologian-in-residence this year.  A gifted teacher, wise priest, and dear friend of Mother Susan, he will be worshipping with us on a somewhat regular basis in the coming months.  We are thrilled to welcome him to preach, preside at the Eucharist, and lead Adult Education when he is with us.  This unusual opportunity for our parish will allow us to learn and grow together in extraordinary ways, and will enrich our common life of prayer and worship. To learn more about Father Patrick Malloy click here.

Dr. William Stroker Six week Seminar on the
Early Christian Church

Dr. William Stroker will present and discuss the Early Christian Church formation. As a former Chairman of Religion at Drew University and now professor emeritus, his outstanding educational skills will offer an exciting venue for learning. Beginning February 19th at 3pm in the St. Mark's Church in Basking Ridge, we will explore the world of the first century.  Please call the St. Mark's church office at 908-766-9058 to make a reservation. A suggest donation of $35 is appreciated. We welcome all who wish to learn about Christianity or who are traveling on a spiritual journey.

 The Weekly Topics are:

February 19 Early Christianity: The Jewish context for the emergence of Early Christianity

February 26 The Hellenistic context for the emergence of Early Christianity

Simple Suppers Kick-Off Brunch on
Sunday, February 12th

It's not too late to sign-up for some Simple Suppers fun!  For those new to the parish, Simple Suppers is a long standing tradition here at SJOTM.  All you need to do to participate is to fill out a sign-up slip and drop it into the box located near the restrooms.  The week prior to February 12th, groups of 10 - 12 will be formed and team leaders chosen.  On February 12th, at the Simple Suppers Kick-Off Brunch, groups will be revealed and will have the opportunity to meet and find a date for their first gathering.   Click here to download a sign-up sheet.

2012 Every Member Canvass Campaign -
Almost There...

This year's EMC campaign has made significant progress towards the goal of at least $350,000 in pledges.  As of February 2nd we have received 110 pledges for a total of $344,622.  We are encouraged to see 35 families increasing their pledge, 49 families maintaining their 2011 levels, and 10 pledges from new or returning members.  To those who have already pledged, we graciously thank you for your support.  For those who have not yet pledged, please let us know your intentions as soon as possible.

MATCHING PLEDGE

As an added incentive to achieve our goal, we have a member of the parish who will match pledges made as of January 1st.  The match is also valid for those who would like to increase their pledge.  If you need a pledge card or wish to increase your pledge, please contact the Parish Office.  Pledge Cards can be found in the narthex or  click here to download a copy.  You can also call the office at 908-766-2282 to have one mailed to you.
