ADVENT FESTIVAL of LESSON & CAROLS
 this SUNDAY, DEC 4TH
We mark the season of Advent with an Advent Festival of Lessons & Carols  at the 10am service. The Parish Choir will sing works of Palistrina, Willcocks, Vaughan Williams, and Wood.

 If you would like to dedicate Christmas Flowers & Music, please send your dedications to the Parish Office.  In order that we might publish all names in the Christmas bulletins, we ask that you send in your forms by Wednesday,  December 14th.  Click here to download form.

ART SHOW VOLUNTEERS' BRUNCH

As a show of thanks to the many Art Show volunteers who spent countless hours donating their time, there will be a brunch this Sunday, December 4th, after Coffee Hour, in the Parish Hall.

ADVENT QUIET DAY

Please join us on Saturday, December 10th from 10am-2pm, with lunch, for an Advent Quiet Day here at St. John on the Mountain.  We will be joined by St. Mark's, in Basking Ridge, to spend a day of prayer and reflection, led by Father Rick Morley and Mother Susan Ironside, and we will contemplate the Angel Gabriel's announcement to Mary, and her brave response, "Let it be unto me according to your word."  Please RSVP to the Parish Office 908-766-2282 or email office@sjotm.org.

COMPLETE YOUR PLEDGE PAYMENTS FOR
 YOUR 2011 TAX RETURN
In order to be eligible for tax purposes, on your 2011 tax return, your pledge payments will need to be either post marked by December 31, 2011 or received in the office by that date. 
STEWARDSHIP/EVERY MEMBER CANVAS UPDATE

As of Monday, November 28, we have 71 pledges totaling $241,972

 for the 2012 EMC campaign.  
 
We have a few new members pledging (always a good sign) and some big pledges in hand.  But we also have a ways to go to surpass last year (115 pledges for $343,509) and achieve this year's goal of $370,000 in pledges.  If you have not already done so, please send in your pledge card to the Parish Office by Monday, December 12th. If you misplaced your Pledge Card or did not receive one in the mail, extra Pledge Cards can be found in the narthex or  click here to download a copy.  You can also call the office at 908-766-2282 to have one mailed to you.

STOCK DONATIONS

Did You Know You Can Donate Your Stocks to SJOTM?

 

What are the benefits of giving stock, instead of cash, to charity? DECEMBER MISSION OUTREACH MEETING

The next next Mission Outreach Committee meeting will take place on Sunday, December 11th immediately following the 10am service in the choir room.  Please let us know of any organizations or local charities that are in need of money or volunteers, by contacting Sally Hespe, Fenn Putman or any other commission members. 

DECEMBER LADIES' LUNCHEON

Please join us on Thursday, December 15th at noon at the Somerset Hills Country Club for a special luncheon.  The cost is $20 per person; alcoholic beverages are extra.  Please RSVP to Katie Porter at 973-543-4003 or email katieporter304@gmail.com by Monday, December 12th.

Important Dates to Remember

  • Sunday, December 11th after the 10am service ~ Costume pick up in the Parish Hall.
  • Thursday, December 15th from 4-5pm ~ Pageant rehearsal for Singers & Speakers only, in the church
  • Saturday, December 17th at 10am ~ Pageant rehearsal for All, in the church
  • Sunday, December 18th ~ Meet at 9:30am in Parish Hall for the 10am Pageant

GREENING of the CHURCH for  CHRISTMAS
Join the Altar Guild as they prepare the church for Christmas on Thursday, December 22 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Help decorate trees, hang wreaths, and stay for refreshments.

ADOPT-A-FAMILY for CHRISTMAS

Help save a struggling family's Christmas by providing an uncooked meal.  It's easy!  Just buy the makings for a meal, and deliver it  uncooked to your Adopt-a-Family. The sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board.  For more information, contact Pete Ackerman jbajr@comcast.net or (908) 537-9905. 

GRACE'S SOUP KITCHEN
We will work at Grace's Soup Kitchen, at Grace Episcopal Church in Plainfield,  on Friday, December 30th from 10am-1pm.  This is a great time to bring your children to see how fortunate they are and how they can help others.  Volunteers do not need to bring anything.  A sign-up sheet is located on the bulletin board near Parish Hall.  Please sign-up so that we will know how many will be there.  For directions to Grace Episcopal click here.
