The Great Litany

To mark the First Sunday in Lent, we are beginning the 10am service by singing the Great Litany in procession. The Great Litany was written by Thomas Cranmer in 1548 was the first text used in the newly forming Church of England that was written in English and not in Latin. It predates the first Book of Common Prayer (1549) by one year.

Lenten Choral Evensong Today, Sunday March 13th

All are invited to begin the season of Lent with this contemplative service of evening prayer, featuring the combined adult choirs of St. Luke's & St. John on the Mountain, with Melissa Bohl on oboe, at 4pm at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 182 Main Street, Gladstone.  Choir Directors Dr. Andrew Moore & Dr. Brian Harlow will lead the choirs in Anglican choral music from the past three centuries, including the Evening Canticles in C by Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924), the Preces and Responses by Thomas Ebdon (1738-1811), and The Lord is My Shepherd from Requiem by John Rutter (b. 1945). The service will also include a sung psalm, hymns, and instrumental music. There is no admission charge, but a free will offering will be collected. For more information call 908-234-0002.
