Summertime!

At this time of year we are inclined to call to mind George Gershwin's famous lyric, "Summertime, and the livin' is easy."  Though we can certainly relate to that dictum at the Vancouver Learning Centre, we don't altogether follow it.  We have a busy summer program going for many students who want to maintain their momentum in learning so that when the new school year begins in September they will not have lost ground in achieving their learning goals.

However, we recognize that for readers of this Newsletter the summer is not the best time to engage you in considering complex research material.  People are away or just enjoying a holiday break, and we respect that.  We certainly do have some exciting news to share about "Reading and the Brain,"  but we thought we should save that up until September.  At that time, we will also have some news to share about new services at the Vancouver learning Centre.

We have had a very successful and satisfying year in which a record number of students joined our learning family.  Those of you who come by the Centre during the day are certainly aware of the buzz of activity as eager young minds engage in their learning tasks.

For now we want to wish everyone a pleasant summer break.  If you would like to refresh your knowledge about the Vancouver Learning Centre, please visit our website If you would like to see previous issues of this Newsletter, please click here.  In the side column of this Newsletter you will see a reminder of upcoming topics and activities.

Best regards from all of us at the Vancouver Learning Centre.
