Greetings!
March is National Nutrition Month. This year's focus is eating the recommended amount of fruits, vegetables, grains, protein and dairy. Half of your plate should contain fruits and veggies whether they are fresh or frozen. When it comes to cereals and breads, try to incorporate whole grains when possible.

Carla Can Breathe a Little Easier
Carla DiGuilian
Weights are one of the many components Carla adds to her daily workout routine.

"I feel like the pulmonary rehab program gave me my life back," said Wellness Center member Carla DiGuilian.

Carla was diagnosed with asthma 30 years ago, but it wasn't until the summer of 2010 that she noticed her breathing had gotten worse. She was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension.

"You only get out of it what you put into it. They can tell

you what to do, but then you have to do it," said Carla. When she first started the Pulmonary Rehab Program at the Wellness Center she couldn't do a six-minute walk. By the end of the program she was up to 11 minutes, and now she can do 35.

Fitness Reassessment
Every three months the Wellness Center sets aside time to reassess our client's programs and progress. It is a great way to check on your progress and get ideas for the next steps you should take in your exercise program.

Monday, March 19: 6:30 - 9 a.m.
Tuesday, March 20: 12:30 - 2 p.m. and 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Wednesday, March 21: 6 - 7 p.m.
Friday, March 23: 1 - 3 p.m.

If these times do not work, you can book an appointment at the front desk. The reassessment should take approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

We also want to thank Dr. Joseph David for being our medical director. Pulmonary Rehab is obviously a big team effort!
