Defensive Driving Tips ---- Take them to heart!
1) Start with a proper attitude - be aware of your surroundings, other vehicles and road conditions.
2) Secure all occupants including children and pets before starting out. Using a seat belt properly will save your life and airbags do their job only when you wear your seat belt. Watch for loose items that could become projectiles in a sudden stop.
3) Driving too fast or too slow can cause accidents. If you have to drive slowly, use your emergency flashers.
4) Never drive impaired. Never drink and drive!
5) Keep your windows uncluttered for good vision.
6) Always use your lights and turn signals. Avoid other vehicles' blind spots.
7) Keep space around your vehicle. This gives you somewhere to react and escape. Always stay at least 2 FULL seconds behind other cars, five or more in the rain and fog.
8) Keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. Don't let yourself be distracted by food, cell phones, children, your navigation system or your music.
9) Be courteous and helpful to other drivers. Ignore them is they do not do the same for you. You never need to provoke another driver.
10) Keep your car in good shape so it handles properly: Maintain tires, lights, brakes, suspension, wheel alignment and steering.
