Action Automotive Newsletter
February 2011

Greetings,

Welcome to the second issue of our monthly newsletter. Here at Action we take our customers seriously, we work hard to offer superior sales and service, but most of all we work to build relationships. Building a relationship doesn't happen overnight, it takes effort, hard work and trust. Every morning when we open the doors we greet our customers with a smile, and usually call them by name.

We know that today's economic climate has caused many to put off

preventative maintenance work until it has to be done. Action Automotive is dedicated to offering a pleasant service experience and great prices everyday, sometimes we make it even better by offering a coupon too.

When it's time for your next service, come where you are recognized and appreciated. We are here to help with all of your automotive needs. Don't neglect necessary service until its too late. Like the old saying goes; "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". We look forward to seeing you real soon.

Sincerely,

THE ACTION AUTOMOTIVE TEAM

Batteries- It Started OK Yesterday

It all starts with the battery.

Did you know that battery failure is the #1 reason for requesting roadside assistance!

Most automotive batteries are of the lead-acid design, lead plates surrounded with sulfuric acid. The battery connects to your vehicle by two metal terminals, one positive (+) and one negative (-). The battery stores the energy to start your car, provides the current to operate all of the accessories when the engine is off and also protects your computers from high voltage surges. Extreme heat and cold are hard on automotive batteries.

What maintenance is required on my battery?

  • Be sure to have your battery tested with an electronic tester everytime your vehicle is serviced.
  • Inspect cables and terminal connections, be sure they are clean and tight.
  • Check for signs of corrosion, which could be a sign of sulfuric acid leakage.
  • If necessary, thoroughly clean the post and terminals and apply anti-corrosion protectors.

If you are not sure the last time your battery was checked, just stop in and we will be happy to have someone test your battery for free! If your battery does need replacing remember that we carry a full line of 5 year batteries and also 7 year Professional Series batteries. The best part... at everyday low prices! If you are the do-it-yourself type, be sure to recycle your old battery.

Action Automotive is ready to help with all of your automotive needs, call or schedule an appointment today.
Mention that you received this e-mail and save $5.00 on a new battery!

Mileage Saving Tips
This winter has been a cold one and gas prices are on the rise again. You can't control the price of gas, but you can control how much fuel you burn by performing proper maintenance and paying attention to your driving habits.  Below are some tips to improve your miles per gallon (MPG)'s.
  • Keep your tires properly inflated, could save 3%
  • Keep your car tuned up, could save 4% or more
  • Replace dirty or clogged air filters, older cars can save up to 14%
  • Change oil regularly

Don't forget that your driving habits are directly related to your MPG's too.
  • Avoid quick starts and stops. Aggressive driving can reduce your MPG's up to 33%
  • Avoid excessive idling, idling gets zero MPG's. Warming up your engine 1-2 minutes is sufficient
  • Observe the speed limit, your MPG's will decrease rapidly over 60mph
  • Don't carry unneeded items in your trunk. An additional 100lbs can cost you 1-2% of fuel mileage

We all like to save money, try some of these tips and see how much you can save. You might be pleasantly surprised.
