Preparing for Diocesan Convention
In preparing for our up-coming Diocesan Convention, the Secretary of Convention is working on a video celebrating the mission and ministry of the Episcopal Church in Oklahoma. Each congregation is asked to submit a video of the congregation saying the words "We are the Episcopal Church." Ideally this would be submitted in electronic format (.mov is preferred) to Melanie Wignall (mwignall@cox.net) via email or mailing a CD or jump drive to her. The video should be shot in 16:9 (widescreen ration). Please submit these to Melanie by September 15th. |

Episcopal Relief and Development Resources Available
Free resources designed especially for Episcopal parishes and schools are just a click away! As you make preparations for fall programming, please take a look at these resources:
A special St. Francis Day edition of our Abundant Life Garden Project resources is available for Blessing of the Animals. Child friendly prayers and a homily illustrated with photos of children and farm animals from many parts of the world are included. This resource required minimal advance preparation and is "print and go" or easily shown on a laptop or projector. Click here to get this resource or go to our website at www.er-d.org/children .
The Harvest module of our Abundant Life Garden Project resources is designed for use by children or intergenerational groups. A Litany of Thanks, Meditation, Story from the Field, and both group and individual activities are included for your use. Please go to www.er-d.org/chilren. Scroll down and click on "Session Five: Harvest" under the Abundant Life Garden Project resources for this lesson plan.
Our Rita Mosquito materials include options for smaller children, older children, and teens. Storybooks, games, arts & crafts, and prayers for those at risk for malaria are included. Lessons 2 and 3 are particularly good for older children and teens. These lessons focus on the geography of Africa and the science behind malaria prevention. For something different, please give these a try. All are available at www.er-d.org/children or www.inspirationfund.org (click tab for Resources, then "Curriculum and Faith Formation Resources").
Finally, a free series of six Advent children's chapel services are available at www.er-d.org/formation. These resources include child-friendly prayers, a homily illustrated with photos of those served by Episcopal Relief & Development, and coloring sheets. Please consider this resource when making your Advent planns.
(To access the Advent and St. Francis modules, you need to give your name and email address. You do NOT have to take a survey, we promise! We just want to gauge needs and interest for use in developing additional free resources.) |
