Companion Diocese Uruguay

Holy God, source of healing and of peace, bless with your grace the companion dioceses of Oklahoma and Uruguay. Through our partnership one with another may we grow in mutual affection and communion, seek a more profound experience of truth, build up the Church in unity and give glory to Jesus Christ our Saviour. Holy Monday Service

The service of liturgy for the Blessing of Oils, Renewal of Ordination Vows, and Holy Eucharist will be on Holy Monday, April 18, 2011, at St. Paul's Cathedral, 10:30 a.m. You are cordially invited to be a part of this ancient service.
In the course of Christian history oils blessed for the purpose have come to be used in many ways for the setting apart of people and things for a special place in the life of the Church, for Bishops and priests at their ordination, and for churches and altars at their consecration. During the service two oils will be blessed - the oil of Chrism, and oil for the anointing of the sick and those close to death. The oils will then be distributed to the attending clergy to take back to use in their parishes.

Godly Play Training
We are offering a three-day Godly Play Core Training event at St. Paul's Cathedral, 127 NW 7th Street, Oklahoma City. Classes will be offered on:
Thursday, June 9th from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Friday, June 10th from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 11th from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
Godly Play is an approach to religious education in which the teacher shows the various ways to use the sacred stories, parables and liturgical actions of the Christian faith as tools for approaching the larger questions of life. These components of religious language become the starting points for wonder and discussion. Following the Montessori tradition, the materials are always available for children to use in retelling the story, thus helping them to truly make the stories their own. Class structure follows the pattern of worship. There is time to share the story in community and time to respond individually (through art materials or the story manipulatives). At the end of the response time, the community of children comes together for prayers and a "feast." This method was begun by the Rev. Jerome Berryman, an Episcopal priest, who studied with Sofia Cavalletti, who pioneered the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program.
The cost for training is $295. However, don't let this be an impediment in your taking the training. Many smaller congregations have asked about this and we want you to be able to attend. Contact Sabrina if you need scholarship help. Additionally, we will help you look at alternative materials that help reduce the set- up costs. A registration form an brochure is on line.
You may check out Godly Play on their web site: http://www.godlyplayfoundation.org/newsite/Main.php

Our Diocese is one of the sponsors of this year's conference of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship (TENS). It will be held June 3-4, 2011 at Camp Allen. It is designed for clergy and lay leaders, and has tracks for people new to stewardship as well as workshops that present fresh and innovative strategies for seasoned stewardship leaders. It is not often that the TENS conference is held so close to our Diocese, and it is also a cost savings that it is being held at Camp Allen rather than in a hotel. Please take advantage of this training opportunity. For a link to complete conference information please click http://www.tens.org/2011IGG/index.htm Please contact Charlene Fabian, Stewardship Director (918-712-7002 or email at cfabian@epiok.org) if you have questions about the conference.

Loaves & Fishes
Loaves & Fishes is the Food Pantry, in Guymon, serving the needy in Texas County.
It was founded in 1986 by Shirley Mahan, the wife of the late Fr. James Mahan. It is now run by volunteers from churches in Guymon, and it's surrounding communities. Depending on size, each church takes a month, or part of one. St. Stephen's, Guymon takes care of the first 2 weeks in March. The volunteers make up the orders, restock shelves, etc.
In the photographs, you will find Chris Holliwell, Ann Bunch & Paul Faris packing groceries.

Keith Matthews entering information into the databank, Loaves & Fishes having just acquired a computer, to replace the previous card system.

St. Crispin's Design Committee
Seeks Your Input
As announced at the Annual Diocesan Convention, a committee was formed to determine the needs of a new camp facility on the St. Crispin's property. This is being done to accommodate our needs for the future and to provide a safe space for children. This new camp site is to be self-contained in one area, and will allow use our Conference facility at the same time summer camp is in session.
This group has met several times already and have formulated a list of items that we would like to see a part of the camp. However, we would love to have the collective wisdom of the Diocese as to what you would like to see a part of the facility.
Please email your suggestions to: Christianformation@epiok.org. We encourage you to think out of the box. If you don't suggest it, it might be left out!

Closing - Prayers for Sundays after Epiphany and Lent
Lord, help me not to be a taker but a tender,
Lord, help me not to be a whiner but a worker,
Lord, help me not to be a getter but a giver,
Lord, help me not to be a hindrance but a help,
Lord, help me not to be a critic but a catalyst for good.
