Companion Diocese Uruguay

Uruguay

         two bishops

Holy God, source of healing and of peace, bless with your grace the companion dioceses of  Oklahoma and Uruguay. Through our partnership one with another may we grow in mutual affection and communion, seek a more profound experience of truth, build up the Church in unity and give glory to Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

St. Mary's School - Edmond Prepares

for Beau Geste - 2011

Beau Geste, which translates to "a noble or gracious gesture", began 23 years ago in 1988 with the idea of a simple wine and cheese party for parents to meet and mingle at St. Mary's Episcopal School. At the last minute, two St. Mary's moms decided to add a few auction items believing it would be a good opportunity to raise a little money for the school. Today, the event continues to be the school's major fundraiser and provides approximately $100,000 for priority needs of the school.

This year's event will be held Saturday February 26th at the UCO Ballroom. Tickets are $50 per person and include dinner and cocktails. This year's theme is "The Roaring Twenties" and will feature a Speakeasy, gaming tables, and fun extras including a Royal Court, Cut-the-Card contest and more.

For ticket and auction information, please contact Gayle Jones at 405-341-9541 or gjones@smesedmond.org.

Oklahoma Conference of Churches

Bishop Ed was recently appointed to serve as Convener of the Oklahoma Conference of Churches (OCC). The OCC is comprised of 16 denominations who are committed to the mission of making our Christian unity visible through a variety of ways and to serve neighbors in need. The OCC:

"...initiates cooperation among the participating bodies and between them and other institutions and groups for collaboration.

...enables local congregation cooperation and mission in communities throughout the state.

...provides opportunities for Oklahoma Christians to give witness to Christian Unity through worship, study, and activities.

...shares programs of education and action that enrich the lives of the elderly, children, youth, families, the poor, rural communities and those in the criminal justice system.

...brings people from many religious groups together to learn about each other through conversation and action." (Taken from the OCC website.)

The appointment continues the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma's commitment to work with our brothers and sisters in Christ to serve God's people.

LINK CORRECTION

The "Welcoming Ministry 101"  (WL101) offered through the Methodist church is a free, self-directed course designed to help you expand your own understanding and skills with welcoming as well as equip you to lead your church in establishing and maintaining a dynamic ministry of welcoming and radical hospitality. The four-part course allows you to work at your own pace at your convenience as you read information, explore multimedia materials, engage in discussion forums, complete assignments, take quizzes and share feedback. To successfully complete the course, you can expect to spend 3-5 hours per week depending upon how in depth you go with assignments and whether or not you work offline with your welcoming ministry team. Together with additional training and resources, you will be able to guide your congregation to live a welcoming lifestyle that extends radical hospitality to everyone all the time both inside and beyond the walls of your church.
