"Discarded Memories" 20" x 16" (50.8cm x 40.6cm) Oil on Linen Wouldn't it be great if you could visualize a wastebasket in your mind and within an instant your brain would shed the bad experiences from your history? In this scene I have given my character that capability. Each piece of paper represents an episodic memory, a portal of travel into the past. Her faithful companion looks on curiously as she discards her mental litter. The location for this scene is the lovely Sanssouci Palace, brightly lit under azure skies. Sanssouci has always captured my eye. I love everything from the bold color to the carved sandstone figures between the windows. Serendipitously, I realized after completing 'Discarded Memories' that the name of this palace roughly translates as "without concerns".
