Happy Holidays
Dear ,
The Northeastern California SBDC Program is rounding out another busy year, supporting new and existing entrepreneurs. The number of small businesses working with the SBDC program is at an all-time high. Unfortunately, at the same time we are still experiencing extreme tight lending policies, and many entrepreneurs with outstanding ideas are struggling to secure funding for their small businesses. As we ring in the New Year, we hope there will be more opportunities for funding in 2012.
All of us at the Northeastern CA SBDC are grateful to have the opportunity to work with you and have your support. Although we are living in challenging economic times, we are hopeful that 2012 is a prosperous year for everyone.
Happy Holidays!
Dan Ripke Director Northeastern California SBDC

Senate Moves Toward SBIR Reauthorization for Eight Years
It is not known if the House of Representatives will follow suit or press for its own version. The U.S. Senate expects to approve, by week's end, an eight-year reauthorization of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. It would end a three-year stalemate over its funding. But it is not known if the House of Representatives will follow suit and pass it or continue to press for its own version. By a voice vote, Senators on Tuesday approved tacking the SBIR reauthorization Senate Amendment 1115 to the $662 billion National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012 (S. 1867), which authorizes defense spending priorities for the fiscal year that began October 1. The bill is expected to pass the full Senate by Friday before advancing to the House, which for months has considered its own SBIR reauthorization measure, with different language from the Senate's version. "Someone had to move the ball down the field, and I think now we're in the red zone," Robert F. Weiss, chairman of the Save SBIR Coalition, told GEN. "We eagerly await the House's response to see what changes they want to make that are generally in line with what has been proposed in the Senate." READ MORE

Small Business Contractors Needed in California, US Federal Contractor Registration Helping Vendors Register to Meet Demand
US Federal Contractor Registration is urging small businesses in California to complete their CCR registration in order to meet the contracting needs of local federal agencies. There are currently over 590 opportunities listed on the FedBizOpps website where contracting officers post contracts over $25,000 up for bid. With a lack of properly registered small businesses, federal agencies will not be able to meet the mandated 23% contract award rate to small businesses during 2012. To check your company's registration status and find out what contracts are available in your industry, contact the Contractor Helpline at (877) 252-2700 ext 1 or visit https://www.uscontractorregistration.com/.
St. Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) December 05, 2011
US Federal Contractor Registration is reporting a high number of contracting opportunities posted to the FedBizOpps website in California. There are currently over 590 listings posted by federal contracting officers looking for qualified vendors to submit their bids immediately.
Contracting officers in California have already awarded over $1 billion in contract awards in the state since the beginning of the 2012 fiscal year on October 1st, 7.92% of the amount awarded nationwide, according to the USASpending website.
