American Express survey of California small businesses.
Dear ,
One of the ways we take the pulse of small businesses is through surveys of small business owners. The latest such survey to be released comes from American Express.
American Express recently released their survey of California small businesses. The results confirm the information our clients have shared with us across the State, and include:
· Seventy-two percent of California business owners report having cash flow issues next six months, up from 57 percent this spring;
· Thirty-seven percent are planning to hire within the next six months, up significantly from last spring (25 percent); · Thirty-two percent are not focused on business growth and are "just trying to keep the lights on";
From the report, "One in four entrepreneurs cite accounts receivable as their biggest concern (25 percent), and similarly their ability to pay bills on time (24 percent); less than one-in-ten are concerned with the ability to accurately track cash flow (9 percent), having enough cash to win new business (8 percent), and the ability to meet payroll (5 percent)."

| NATIONAL SMALL BUSINESS NEWS | Advantage Loan InitiativesSmall Loan Advantage and Community Advantage 7(a) Loan Initiatives SBA is committed to expanding access to capital for small businesses and entrepreneurs in underserved communities so that we can help drive economic growth and job creation. In line with that, SBA is rolling out two new initiatives on February 15, 2011, aimed at increasing the number of loans in these communities. SBA and U.S. Department of Commerce studies have shown the importance of lower dollar loans to small business formation and growth in underserved communities. With that in mind, and building on the agency's "Advantage" platform, both Small Loan Advantage and Community Advantage will offer a streamlined application process for SBA 7(a) loans up to $250,000.
