Merry CHRISTmas!

Reason

As I read through two newsletters from one large animal organization, I am very disappointed. I read Happy Holidays, festive, holiday gift, Rudolph, Santa, magic, miracle and Best Wishes, but WHAT happened to CHRISTmas? Is it politically correct to leave out Christmas so as not to offend anyone?  Who makes up the politically correct stuff anyway? Are we so afraid people won't donate, when we speak up, that we leave out the reason for the season? I'm sorry if I offend anyone who is an atheist; I respect your beliefs, but please respect mine and don't try to "cash in" on my beliefs. All my money says, "IN GOD WE TRUST"!

Not a single day goes by that I don't think of death and Heaven. When some of us deal with death daily, be it hearing/reading or holding dying pets or reading about a little child being killed and we care SO much, how could we not?

As I celebrate this Christmas Season, I feel very blessed to have been able to save so many lives and have YOU be part of our work of love.

Merry CHRISTmas!

The Needle!
Needle

Most of you are thinking this article is about killing pets, but you are wrong! From our very first newsletter dated March 2001 we have stressed the importance of having ID tags on your pets. Here is your chance to get a free ID tag and have fun at the same time!

Hidden somewhere in this newsletter is a picture of a needle like the one pictured with this article. Find the needle, be the first one to e-mail us with the location and we will send you an ID tag so your pet can get home and avoid a needle!

   Here's what happened last month:

I found the needle!

(It was at the bottom of the ID Tag article)

This is the first time I have ever even seen the needle. You do a really good job of hiding it ;-)

Thanks! I really enjoy your newsletter.

and they walk among us.........

Congratulations, Charlotte!

Keep ID tags on your pets and NEVER leave them outside unattended.  WHY anyone would leave their pets outside when nobody is home is STUPID and DANGEROUS!!

Once AGAIN....

Missing Dog Reunited With Family After 8 Years

"Wow. Quite frankly, [my husband] John and I just figured somehow she had gotten killed." Kristen Pruitt told Fredricksburg.com after being reunited with her mix breed pit bull Petunia who had been missing for eight years.

The dog disappeared on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 2003 from a family farm in Fredericksburg, Virginia, according to Fredricksburg.com. Somehow, eight years later, the dog ended up on the opposite side of the United States at an animal shelter in California.

The shelter then used a microchip implanted in the dog to track down the dog owners, according to Fredricksburg.com.

In a Skype interview with CBS13 Sacramento, Pruitt exclaimed upon seeing the dog,"Awwwwww. Look at her."

Debra Luis, supervisor at the Yuba County Animal Control Office in California, told the Appeal Democrat about the dog's health. The Appeal Democrat reports Luis said "that the dog is in fine shape physically, though she also said there are signs the animal had not received enough nutrition in recent months."

Now, according to KCRA Sacramento, "The shelter is now working with Pruitt to make sure Petunia is home for the holidays."

Sal in Oregon

Sal in Oregon is one of our faithful readers and usually finds our hidden needle first and passes it on to the next person.

Last month she sent this adorable picture of her rescued dog, Tomas Thumb. Thank you for sharing, Sal!

Double Prayers Answered!
Jo Lee Home

We always pray for a perfect home for our furkids. The day our last electronic newsletter was sent an adoption also took place. JoLee, our beautiful German shepherd, was adopted by Randall and Lori of North Platte, NE. We had a number of inquiries about her. One family lost their last dog when they were camping and someone stole it out of the back of their pickup truck. Dogs in the back of trucks click the blue if you want to know why it is against our policies. The family was declined. One family said they purchased their last two dogs because it was cheaper getting them from a breeder than a rescue.... Do they think all our vet work is free? Guess they don't see the need to vet their animals. And Heaven forbid should they want to help save lives.

Well, the perfect home was found. Lucky JoLee now has a huge yard to play in and a home to eat and sleep in. Pets are their family members. When asked if they were going to change JoLee's name, Lori replied, "No, we LOVE her name. My middle name is Jo and Randall's middle name is Lee!" It was meant to be. They report JoLee is doing very very well, sleeping in their bedroom and enjoys playing with her three brothers and sisters.
After taking our normal adoption family pictures, it was later discovered that none of the pictures had turned out. Our previously donated camera has seen its better days after nine years of use. While e-mailing Jannis in Denver about the newsletter (she loved Kobe's Thanksgiving Present story click here if you missed it), I asked her if she knew of a brand name of camera that would work for us. She wrote back that she had a camera she wasn't using and would mail it. The camera arrived and is AWESOME. It works beautifully and instead of AA batteries it has a rechargeable battery which will save us money. Double prayers answered! Thank you Randall, Lori and Jannis!
