Happy 4th of July
Hey, I have survived the summer so far! With the terrible thunder storms rolling overhead, it gets pretty scary at times and, of course, the dogs all need to be brought inside. They are so sweet, they might melt if a raindrop gets on them. It really keeps me busy!
Super Saturday in Cheyenne went very well. I came very close to canceling. A sever bladder infection set in the day before so I wasn't feeling well. But I'm so glad I suffered throught it. I met lots of new friends and, of course, it's always nice to see dogs that were previously adopted. It was a very long day and I'm still recovering.
Oh my, just when I thought things couldn't get any worse with the vet bills, we ended up with another HUGE vet bill. Fanny, who had double ear sugery and was in last month's newsletter, has not been doing well. She has lost over ten pounds. We had two blood tests done, full set of x-rays all of which showed nothing wrong. Fanny is on medicines and we'll see if they help. If not, she will need to go to a specialist.
Katie who was also in last month's newsletter had her sugery and all of her teeth were removed. She had so much scar tissue in her throat that the veterinarian had trouble putting a tube down her throat so she could get oxygen. Katie is now on medicines for coughing. Katie was from a horrlbe puppy mill. The "home remedy" method of de-barking is to shove a rod down the dogs' throats, hit it with a hammer to pop vocal cords. Often times a dog's jaw is broken. The cruelty in puppy mills is unbelievalbe.
Pet Pals also recently took in a dog who was dumped and then hit by a car. A cop offered to shoot her, but luckily, she made it here. She is doing very well. Her name is Cream..... She was almost creamed by a car and is like sweet cream! LOL Pictures are pending.
Last, but not least, I want to THANK those of you who sent a donation towards the huge vet bills. You are the BEST! Lives ARE being saved.
Thank you and have a VERY Happy 4th of July!
Linda York
PS. We are also helping a dog whose owner is in the service, but not reclaiming her dog. The dog is coming in on Tuesday. It's our patriotic good deed!
