A year and a half ago, we celebrated a historic victory and your financial contribution made it possible for your local headquarters to take on an unprecedented challenge. With each of us playing a part in the effort we helped to elect Barack Obama President of the United States--a defining moment in time.

Our Pasadena-based United Democratic Headquarters [UDH] flourished with more than 2,000 volunteers and 3,200 donors.  There was a true grassroots unity and spirit that reached a fever pitch. Our collective efforts enabled us to register new constituents, telephone voters and walk door to door to many homes in the greater Pasadena area.

We are contacting you today because we need your help to do it again. Our President took office in the midst of the most challenging times since the Great Depression. At every turn, hindered by a stubborn and punitive Republican minority President Obama took bold steps to stabilize our economy and pass historic health care legislation.

With two wars raging, an ecological catastrophe in the gulf and record high unemployment we face some of our most difficult days ahead. This is the time to stand up and be counted!  We have to show our President and our Democratic majority in Congress we support them. 

The United Democratic Headquarters will open up our doors at 260 South Lake Avenue in Pasadena on Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 2010--and you are invited to be part of the celebration from 1p.m. to 3p.m. We are counting on you to financially support what promises to be a thriving and effective headquarters. This is the only local headquarters to serve the San Gabriel Valley.

There is important work to be done.  We need to elect Jerry Brown Governor, Barbara Boxer Senator, Adam Schiff and Judy Chu to congress, John Chiang Controller and send Anthony Portantino back to the Assembly.
