Syracuse After School Clubs Wrap Up Successful Year
The Rocket After School Club held several events this month to celebrate a successful year of clubs. The Theater Arts Club held an Evening of Sharing. The student's families where invited to join them as they presented and shared what they had been working on during Theater Arts Club. Students presented their own feature Goldie-Pick-Locks and the Four Bears, which was the students' adaption of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Students also performed scene skits and a commercial.
A special After School Club activity was held on Thursday, May 12. Students were invited to come and create a clay art project with artist Jenni Brandt, Director of the KHN Center for the Arts. Students learned about clay and some techniques where demonstrated. Students then where able to create their own clay piece.
The 3rd Annual Bowling Party-Year End Celebration was held at Farkbe Lanes on May 10th. Twenty-five students attend this year's event. Students had great time bowling! Students got to bowl for an hour and have lots of laughs with friends. The After School Clubs served a total of 58 different 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Middle School this school year.

Register Your Student Now for Summer Art Camp at the KHN July 25th -29th

The 4th annual Summer Art Camp will be held at the Kimmel-Nelson-Harding Center for the Arts in Nebraska City July 25th-29th. The theme for Art Camp 2011 is recycle, reduce and reuse. Students will use common recycled items to create something new and beautiful. Students will use a variety of mediums throughout the week including paint, oil pastels, wood, and yarn. Katy Bovick will be the artist for Summer Art Camp 2011. Ms. Bovick has been the artist leading the camp for three of the past four years.
Students who are entering grades 1-7 in the next school year are welcome to register for Summer Art Camp. A morning session will be held for 1st through 3rd graders from 9:30 to 11:30 am and an afternoon session will take place each day that week for 4th through 7th graders from 12:00 to 2:30 pm. There will be room for 20 students to participate in each session. Registration are available online at www.p4oc.org, or by calling 402-873-6343 to receive one in the mail.
