Lights on After School  is celebrated nationwide to call attention to the importance of after-school programs for America's children, families and communities.  About a third of Nebraska's school children are responsible for taking care of themselves after school. After school programs keep kids safe, inspire them to learn and help working families.

lights onf after school 1One hundred kids participated in After School Clubs at the Nebraska City Middle School during the first quarter of the school year.  The Lights on After School celebration at Nebraska City Middle School had a Halloween theme.  Everyone who participated had to wear a mustache to the party or make one. More pictures from the event can be viewed on the Nebraska City News-Press website.

The Syracuse Rocket Middle School After School Club celebrated Lights on After School with group pictures, pizza, and trip to the Fitness Plus Center. Students enjoyed the pizza and had a great time working off that pizza by either swimming or participating in a strength and balance workout!  It was a great way to wrap up first quarter activities.  Since school began we have had 34 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students participate in four different ASC clubs.

You can learn more about After School Clubs at your son or daughter's Parent-Teacher Conference or visit our website www.p4oc.org.  Registration forms will be available for second quarter After School Clubs.  Students may register for one club or attend every day.   Explore America After 3PM for even more research on afterschool programs in Nebraska.
