Partners for Otoe County Launches New Website at www.p4oc.org.
 | As communities around our nation celebrated Independence this Fourth of July, we launched our new and improved Partners for Otoe County website for this community. Today, we are online at www.p4oc.org. Please take a moment to visit us and learn more about our programs, partnerships and how to get involved. Our Calendar at a Glance and News and Events will keep you up to date on the latest happenings. Check out our Community Links page under Resources to learn about what other local organizations are doing. The creation of this website was funded by a grant to Region V Systems from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children, Youth and Families Office of Community Services. These same grant dollars also enabled us to produce a new brochure (available at http://www.p4oc.org/resources/publications-downloads) and revise our brand as we continue to focus on: Building a community where every family thrives. Although our appearance and communication tools have changed, we remain steadfastly committed to enhancing the quality of lives of children and families through the promotion of programs, services and resources in Otoe County. Write to us at p4ocnews@gmail.com and let us know how you feel about these changes. |

Summer 2010 Safe Homes Directories are In the Mail
Safe Homes is a communication network for parents and other caregivers who want to keep their children alcohol, tobacco, drug and violence free. All families who reside in or are educated in Otoe County may join the Safe Homes Network by signing a simple pledge consisting of three statements:
- To actively supervise all gatherings or parties of youth in your home or on your property, or ask another responsible adult to help or do so;
- To not allow the possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drugs, or violence by youth in your home or on your property.
- To set expectations for your own children by knowing where they are going, who they are with, what their plans are, and when they are to return.
When you sign the Safe Homes Pledge, you have the option to add your family's contact information to the Safe Homes Directory, which is distributed ONLY to the other families who also signed the pledge. Your Safe Homes Directory then becomes a means for you to communicate with the parents of your children's friends, and to share with each other your thoughts, values, and expectations. You invite the Safe Homes families to call you, and likewise, you're invited to call the other Safe Homes families.
Summer 2010 Safe Homes Directories are in the mail this week. There are two new features for Safe Homes families this year. We now offer two different directories - a school district level Safe Homes directory and a countywide directory that comes in handy as your children grow older and make friends in nearby communities. The Safe Homes email group is the second new feature added this year, providing parents and caregivers with information and resources. You can join the Safe Homes Network by completing the Safe Homes Pledge Form. To report changes to your listing in the Safe Homes Directory, contact Tim at 873-6343.
