*California's Low Energy Prices are Thanks to Energy Policies. Alliance member Steve Schiller, Chair of the Oakland-based California Energy Efficiency Industry Council, joins Ken McEldowney, Executive Director of Consumer Action, to tout the state's innovative clean energy and energy efficiency policies that make California's electricity bills among the lowest in the nation.

*The Golden State is Still Golden. "Study after study from the Public Policy Institute of California about business relocations debunks the myths being repeated by the conservative propaganda machine," says Alliance Member David Steel, President and CEO of the U.S. Green Chamber of Commerce, based in San Diego. "California's pioneering laws to protect our air and water, not to mention access to skilled labor and a superior quality of life, are what continue to draw and keep businesses in the state."

*California's AB 32 Adds to Valley Business' Bottom Line. Alliance member Michael Gottlieb of Advanced Green Solutions in Van Nuys wrote this op-ed in the San Fernando Valley Business Journal arguing that California's clean energy and climate law - AB 32 - will be a catalyst for the region's companies to add to their bottom lines. By providing a cleaner, healthier environment for our workforce, AB 32 ensures the state's long-term energy and water security, attracts new public and private investment, stimulates business growth and creates jobs, among other benefits.

*Cool California: Three Squares Inc. Named Business of the Year. Alliance member Three Squares Inc. of Santa Monica was recognized with a Business of the Year award for demonstrating exceptional climate change management practices and communication as part of the annual Cool California Awards presented by the California Air Resources Board. (We will highlight additional Alliance members that were Cool Calif. Award winners in our July eNews.)

*Market Approach to Clean Air Worked in East. Gary Lambert, a Republican state senator in New Hampshire says "Don't fear a market-based approach to cutting greenhouse gas emissions. We've been doing it on the East Coast for years, and it works just fine."

*U.S. Solar Installations Jump in First Quarter. Solar installations jumped 85 percent in the first quarter of 2012. A total of 506 megawatts of solar was added during the first three months of the year, the second highest quarterly total to date.

*San Diego Attracts $1 Billion+ in Venture Capital. San Diego is emerging as one of the nation's leading clean tech hubs by embracing renewable energy and clean vehicles as drivers of economic growth.

*Sweeping New Energy Efficiency Standards Approved. The Cailfornia Energy Commission unanimously approved the "strongest in the nation" standards to reduce energy consumption for new homes and businesses by 25 percent or more. Residential requirements include solar-ready roofs, hot water pipe insulation and independent air conditioning.

Clean World Partnersclean world partners will receive $6 million from the California Energy Commission (CEC) to increase its Sacramento biorefinery's capacity from 25 tons to 100 tons a day. This will divert 100 tons per day of food waste from landfills and use that to produce enough renewable natural gas to replace 566,000 gallons of diesel fuel and generate 3.17 million kWh of electricity every year - enough to power nearly 400 average California homes for a year.
