The California Business Alliance for a Green Economy is a growing coalition of more than 1,200 mostly small and mainstream businesses, associations and organizations from around the state who support the creation of a clean, green and efficient economy. To fulfill that mission, our priority is supporting the implementation of California's clean energy policies.

- The Pacific Coast Collaborative released a new report, "West Coast Clean Energy Economy: Opportunities for Investment & Accelerated Job Creation." The report finds that there are several opportunities for accelerated job creation and investment by leveraging the potential of the clean economy through regional collaboration. - The California Treasurer's Office is offering the California Capital Access Program (CalCAP), which encourages financial institutions to make loans to small businesses that fall just outside of their conventional underwriting standards.
- Small Business California* (San Franciscso) released the results of its annual survey. See the Los Angeles Times article to learn more.
- This San Jose Mercury News article explains the new recycling requirements for businesses that will take effect in July.
- This new report by Ernst & Young finds that the U.S. is a leader in renewable energy investment, with California being a significant contributor. See the Los Angeles Times article to learn more.

The CLEAN Coalition* (Palo Alto) announces that the City Council of Palo Alto recently approved a Clean Local Energy Accessible Now (CLEAN) Program, where the city will now increase local production of cost-effective renewable energy.

Sustainable Business Council Achievement Awards Event and Call for Entries
The Sustainable Business Council of Los Angeles'* (Los Angeles) Industry Achievement Awards will provide an opportunity to salute sustainable professionals' contributions to the marketplace and the community. The event features special talks from lifetime acheivement award recipients, sustainable food tasting, and networking with sustainable business leaders. For event information, click here.
To enter the Southern California Sustainable Business Award Competition, click here. Applications will be accepted until March 24. The award will be presented to a business located in Southern California that has "improved its operating efficiencies, profit margins, and staff productivity." Navigating the Carbon World Conference, April 10-12
2012 marks the 10th anniversary of Navigating the American Carbon World (NACW), North America's largest carbon conference. NACW is considered the most trusted and reliable event for getting updates and insights into climate policy and carbon market information.
Participants and attendees represent business, NGOs, academia and government agencies, providing a depth and diversity in issues discussed and also excellent networking and collaborating opportunities. NACW 2012 will take place April 10-12 in San Francisco and will present a detailed look at California's cap and trade program and other types of mitigation, as well as current and potential linkages between state-level, regional, and international carbon markets and sub-national REDD programs.

LOHAS Networking Reception, April 19
Lifestyles in Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) invites Alliance members to join the $290 billion U.S. LOHAS market for a networking event and reception: New Ideas, New Partnerships, New Opportunities on April 19, 6:30-8:30 pm in Santa Monica.
LOHAS is a marketplace for goods and services focused on health, the environment, social justice, personal development, and sustainable living.
BLU MOON Group* (Santa Monica) is working with LOHAS to organize the event. The reception will include networking, cocktails, appetizers, and conversations about the LOHAS Marketplace. LOHAS provides opportunities for business sectors to connect, collaborate, and share new ideas.

Green California Summit and Exposition, April 26-27
The 2012 Green California Summit and Exposition, hosted by Green Technology* (Pasadena) will be held on April 26-27 at the Sacramento Convention Center. The Mediterranean City: A Conference on Climate Change Adaptation, June 25-27
Join a network of experts to discuss adaptation strategies for the growing impacts of climate change at The Mediterranean City: Conference on Climate Change Adaptation taking place June 25-27 at the Sheraton Downtown Hotel in Los Angeles.
The conference will initiate an ongoing collaboration of cities working together to share ideas, needs and strategies to realistically adapt to the current and future impacts of climate change as they similarly affect the five Mediterranean-climate regions of the world. The conference will bring together an international network of experts from the academic, policy, business, public health and government worlds, and will stand as an example for how cities can work together across regional and national boundaries to bring more resources and knowledge to building solutions.
