Calif. Air Resources Board Approves Landmark Clean Cars Rulemaking Package

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) unanimously approved the Advanced Clean Cars package of regulations on January 26-27 in Los Angeles.

The new rules will clean up gasoline and diesel-powered cars, and deliver increasing numbers of zero-emission technologies, such as battery electric and plug-in hybrid cars. The package will also ensure adequate fueling infrastructure is available for the increasing numbers of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles planned for deployment in California.

The package contains four separate, but related components that would require: reductions in greenhouse gas and smog-forming emissions, more zero-emission vehicles, and fueling infrastructure for zero-emission vehicles.

We thank the Alliance members who supported the California Clean Cars Campaign. Here are some of the ways that the Campaign and Alliance members were engaged:

Although the January CARB vote represents a major milestone for the California Clean Cars Campaign, the work is not finished. CARB needs to finalize the regulation language and California continues to work with the federal government on the greenhouse gas emissions rule. The Alliance will to keep you updated on the latest clean cars news.
