Dear Spiritual Partner,
The Spring has arrived at last for us in Ashland, Oregon, USA, but there is no season of spirituality. All days are holy. The seasons show us the cycle of life from birth (spring), youth (summer), adult (autumn), and old age (winter). Each brings unique experiences and lessons. The experiences of your life come in seasons, and sometimes these seasons do not concur with the seasons of the year. For example, grief, loss, and contraction can come at any time, including in the spring, and joy and expansion can occur at any time, including the winter. We live in cycles within cycles, each flavoring our experiences and offering us opportunities to change for the better, if we choose.
An old world is dying now and a new world is being born. From this perspective, the next several millennia will be the spring of a new humanity. How can you contribute to a spring so huge and long-lived? There is only one way. Contribute to it now. Challenge fear when you recognize it in yourself (such as anger, judgment, jealousy, and vengefulness) by not acting on it. Cultivate love when you recognize it in yourself (such as patience, caring, gratitude, appreciation, and contentment) by acting on it. Eventually love will fill your awareness more, and fear will control you less. This is cleaning your house.
This newsletter will give you Spring Cleaning hints on how do to that, no matter what season you are in.

MESSAGE FROM GARY
SPRING CLEANING
Windows are open wide in the Spring, carpets hang outside on the line, and the breeze is gentle and warm. It is the best time to rid yourself of unwanted accumulations, vacuum the dust, take down cobwebs, and challenge your fears. Anytime new insight replaces an old assumption or a fossilized perception is the Spring. New understandings sprout, new tolerances appear, and new curiosity draws you to previously dark places. Just as the sun shines earlier and longer in the Spring, changes that seemed impossible appear to be possible with each new insight into your own health.
The Spring wakes us, nurtures us, and revitalizes us. How often does your Spring come? If you are a prisoner of the calendar, it comes once a year. If you are creating authentic power, it comes frequently, or very frequently. It comes each time you recognize a frightened part of your personality as a part of yourself that you were born to challenge and leave behind. It comes when you realize that a painful emotion (such as anger, jealousy, fear, and resentment) is not "who you are," but a message to pay attention to what you need to change in yourself in order to move into your full potential.
Creating authentic power is continual Spring Cleaning. Painful emotions show you what prevents you from creating harmony, cooperation, sharing, and reverence for Life. What appeared attractive and worth keeping in the dark and cold of the Winter becomes unnecessary in the Spring, and sometimes very unattractive. Which of your painful emotions, such as anger, jealousy, and resentment, now looks unattractive to you? What out-of-control behavior, such as over-eating, gambling, shopping, mindless sex, or internet pornography are candidates for disposal? The more you challenge them by not acting on them while you are experiencing them, the more you free yourself to create the life that is calling you - a life of more joy and less pain, more freedom and less limitation, more love and less fear - and the more you naturally begin to give the gifts that you were born to give.
You can begin your Spring Cleaning now. Even if you live in the southern hemisphere and the autumn, not the spring, has arrived, you can begin your Spring Cleaning. Even in the winter you can begin it. Practice using the Spiritual Partnership Guidelines. Download and print them from:
Find one that attracts you and experiment with it. Then find another. Now is the time for Spring Cleaning. I would like to read your comments. Will you write them on the SoulBlog? Love,

NOTE FROM LINDA A WOMAN'S PERSPECTIVE ON SPRING CLEANING
Do you ever feel overloaded when you are around a lot of people? Would you like to look at why that happens?
One morning after a large social gathering I felt overfull and overloaded (again). The idea came to me that my feelings of overload when I am around "too many people" is a story that comes from a frightened part of my personality! I hadn't ever thought about why I felt drained at social gatherings, and especially large ones. It seemed to me these feelings were just "the way I am," and I could not change that. All I could do was try to protect myself. I decided to explore these experiences during a meditation As I began to explore them, I recalled some times when I was talking to someone and I wasn't relaxed or enjoying myself. My energy was focused on other people I wanted to meet or whom thought I needed to talk with. Then I recalled being with someone who was doing wonderful things, and I wanted to learn from her everything I could, and I was trying hard not to miss anything important. That wasn't enjoyable either. At last, I saw I had been feeling either superior or inferior to the person I was talking with in all of these cases! That is when I knew that frightened parts of my personality had been active at those times, and I had been unaware of them. At first, I didn't like seeing that I had been trying to manipulate and control the people I was speaking with, which I was while these parts of my personality were active. Then I realized that, of course, these parts of my personality would feel overloaded while losing so much energy in fear and doubt. Finally, I became so grateful that I had allowed myself to learn from these opportunities how I could interact differently next time - with awareness and clarity - and give my full presence to everyone in every interaction. I am still working on this.
One of my role models is our dear friend, Dr. Maya Angelou. Gary and I were at a gathering in her home one afternoon when someone at the gathering brought his driver and his driver's friend unannounced to meet her. We had been engaged in a wonderful exchange around the kitchen table. She stopped, graciously welcomed the new comers with her full and unmistakable presence, let them know she was glad they could come, asked each of us to introduce ourselves, and then said simply, "Perhaps you can come again another time," and they were graciously escorted out. I knew they felt no need to return, because they were completely satisfied. They had come to meet Dr. Angelou, and she had given them her full presence.
The next time you are interacting with others, notice if you are fully present with them. Perhaps you are either feeling inferior or superior to them, like I discovered in myself.Love,
