A Month of Hope
Throughout the month of October we at Ketterman's have been blessed and honored to learn of the love our friends and customers have for their sisters, mothers, wives and loved ones battling and surviving various types of cancer. The reach of this disease is devastating, but the love and hope you've shared is overwhelming. Here are some excerpts from our "This One's For The Girls" Event page.
-I am voting for my mom ... a two time cancer survivor. She is the strongest woman I know, she forged ahead each time and didn't look back. Many family members including her best friend and husband was taken away too soon because of cancer. Her faith, hope and humor for life has shown my sister and I what to strive for in this life even when it gets tough. She's always there for us and our family. Love you Mom-
-I would like to vote for my sister ... She's a breast cancer survivor! Very proud of her and I love her so much-
-She came out of her fight stronger and feistier than ever!-
-She is the strongest woman I know!-
-(She) gave God all the glory in her fight for life as she chose to share each step with all of us. The pain and the triumph!!-
-I am voting for my sister in law... She got hodgkins when she was a sophomore in highschool . She was in remission until age 32 when she developed breast cancer, because of her previous treatment her only option was a mastectomy. The day after her surgery the adoption agency called to tell her and my brother they were selected by a family! They were going to be parents! 2 months after they got their daughter she began Chemo!! Such a trooper and an inspiration! - I can only imagine what that was like and still caring for an infant! My niece is the angel she needed!! She is now about 21/2 yrs in remission !! I applaud all survivors !! Xoxo-
Ketterman's was also able to share the love through our well attended "My Party" Events throughout the month. Each week we chose a women's or cancer related charity to benefit from these events. Collectively, you helped us give more than $2300 to local organizations who are working to empower women and fight cancer (and we still have one more event to go!). Join us for our final event to benefit Loudoun Women's Breast Health Network, Monday, October 31 from 3-6pm.

An American Christmas Tradition
Byers' Choice Carolers
Carolers embody the joy of the Christmas season. Joyce Byers used her love for singing carols at Christmas to create these rosey-cheeked characters as gifts for her friends and neighbors. Since the 1960s this family craft project has grown to employ nearly 200 artisans, and the entire family. Sons Jeff and Bob, Jr. joined the company after graduating college and continue to run the business, along with their parents today.
Each of the characters is completely unique and has his or her own personality. Skilled craftsmen and women spend numerous hours on each piece to ensure the quality that Byers' has set out to achieve. They pride themselves on maintaining their original mission, "to produce a quality product at an affordable price, and to be dedicated to serving their customers and their community in the spirit of Christmas."

J. Devlin Glass Art
Artist Kathy Gustafson found her love of glass as a small child looking through the stained glass windows in her grandfather's Iowa home. In honor of those childhood memories she named her company J. Devlin Glass Art after her beloved grandfather.
"In the early years my hobby and fascination grew into a Stained Glass Studio with a focus on creating leaded glass windows and lamps for homes, churches, and businesses throughout the Midwest."
Today, Kathy continues to design home decor in her studio in Lincoln, Nebraska. The line includes numerous picture frames and keepsake boxes, beautiful lamps, clocks, ornaments, kalaidescopes, trays and vases. Most pieces are engravable and make a great gift for any occasion, especially weddings and anniversaries.

Did You Know?
The photos in J. Devlin's picture frames and keepsake boxes are actual photos from the Devlin family album.
In the spirit of giving, Byers' Choice gives at least 20% of their profits to charity every year.
Each Byers' Choice Caroler begins production as a wire coat hanger. |
