CSIA PRESIDENT's MESSAGE
In Canada eh ! WINTER LICENCE-FREE FISHING DATES
In 2012, four (4) Canadian provinces offer the opportunity for new anglers to try fishing for the first time without having to purchase a licence.
Alberta's Family Fishing Days
February 18-20, 2012
Manitoba's Family Fishing Weekend
February 18-20, 2012
Nova Scotia's Family Fishing Weekend
February 18-19, 2012
Ontario's Family Fishing Weekend

(All provincial fishing regulations apply and licence-free fishing does not apply to non-residents in all provinces.)
This winter let's all do our part to help grow the participation in ice and winter fishing, with safety always in mind, by promoting local events and helping out wherever we can. Season's Greetings and a healthy, happy New Year !

NEW Economics of Fishing & 2010 Fishing Surveys |
Department of Fisheries and Oceans - 2010 Survey of Recreational Fishing in Canada
CSIA members are anxiously awaiting the DFO 2012 publication of the results of the 2010 Recreational Fishing (provincial) Survey. This data is analyzed to produce the much anticipated CSIA - Economics of Fishing document.
The survey and the CSIA document help to identify trends in recreational fishery, shape management decisions, protect the resource, and help to assess the importance of fishing and fisheries in Canada.

The Canadian Sportfishing Industry Association (CSIA) represents the manufacturers, distributors, retailers and sales agencies which serve the 8 million Canadians who fish. Our industry generates an annual economy of $7.4 billion dollars - more Canadians fish for recreation than play golf and hockey combined.
The Canadian National Sportfishing Foundation (CNSF) promotes National Fishing Week and the CatchFishing Program to encourage Canadians to experience our great angling heritage.
Dedicated to preserving Canada's angling heritage ! |
