Greetings!

In May, Pathways celebrated the positive connections linking supporters, friends and resources in the community with our school. These connections form a web of support that assists our students to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and succeed both in the classroom and outside of it.

A particularly happy example of these connections is our annual "Journey to Better Pathways" Fun Run/Walk. The Fun Run enlists runners, health enthusiasts, and families to enjoy a 5K course to raise money for Pathways' academic, therapeutic, vocational and fitness programs.

13th Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk

Saturday, May 1, 2010 dawned warm and sunny--a beautiful day for a run in the park! That's just what more than 70 runners and walkers set out to do in support of the academic and therapeutic programs of The Pathways Schools. As always, Northwood Church was the hospitable and friendly site for the morning registration and the festivities that followed the Run/Walk. At 9 o'clock the runners at the start

runners and walkers set off down the course, which made its way under the large, graceful trees of Sligo Creek Park and through the quiet streets of the adjacent neighborhood. The runners were cheered on by Run/Walk day volunteers, who also pointed the way, offered drinks of water, and clocked times. At race's end, the runners with the best times in their category were awarded certificates (and bragging rights). Everyone enjoyed activities that included doggie exercises, face painting, and a raffle drawing. The event raised $7,800. The money goes directly to programs that enhance the educational and therapeutic experiences for Pathways students.
