Member Highlight -- Faith Community Church

Faith Community Church has been a part of the Edmonds community for over 50 years. Our desire is to provide a place where people can explore and discover what it means to follow Jesus. A new avenue of dialogue and discussion is our blog www.heartforpeople.wordpress.com. We invite you to visit and join in the conversation.

One of the ways we seek to embody our goal is through serving in our community. We have partnered with the parks department, the Edmonds Chamber, Support 7 - Police and Fire Chaplaincy, Habitat for Humanity, and local schools. We are active supporters of Jacob's Well, a new transitional housing program for homeless families.

Our services are at 9 AM on Sunday with nursery and children's ministry provided. Our Christmas Eve candlelight services are at 5 and 11 PM. Everyone is invited. Faith Community Church is located at 10220 - 238th St. SW in Edmonds.

Our Mission: to be genuine followers of Jesus who are a transforming presence in our community.

THANK YOU

The Chamber would like to thank Business Member Glazed and Amazed for all the wonderful ceramic dog dishes you see around town. If you're a pet owner, stop by the shop @ 514 Main Street and say thanks to owner Judy Salinas for these great additions to the Edmonds experience!

Wartelles
Dan & Alashia Wartelle -- Wartelle Communications
From Your Executive Director
Jan Vance
Hard to believe in just 4 short weeks 2010 will be over. The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony was a huge success -- cookies, cider, singing, Santa, and the weather cooperated. Thanks go out to all the volunteers, North Sound Church, Maplewood Middle School Jazz Band, the City of Edmonds Parks Department and Street Department, and of course our sponsors:  The Journal Newspapers; Pacific Rim Talent; Dewer Meeks + Ekrem; Amber Salinas Photography; Edmonds Conference Center; Nama's Candy Store; Edmonds Bakery; and Olive's Cafe & Wine Bar. It was a special night for Edmonds!

As we say goodbye to 2010 we will also say goodbye to three Board Members who have contributed greatly to the success of the Edmonds Chamber. Leaving us this year are Tung Bui, Dan McIntosh, and Don Ralston. We'd like to say thank you to these three for their hard work and dedication to the Chamber. While Tung and Dan will be moving on, Don Ralston has accepted a Director's position on the newly formed Edmonds Chamber Foundation Board -- we look forward to working with Don in this new capacity.

While we have three board members leaving, we have four new members who will join the board in 2011. New board members are Valerie Claypool of Claypool Realtor/Keller Williams, Erin Eddins of StanCorp Investment Advisors, Thomas Tomberg of Fire District 1, and Juliana Van Buskirk of Edward Jones, Main Street. Welcome to the board, and we look forward to a very productive and successful year with all of you on our team!

Looking ahead to 2011 we have much to be excited about. The 2011 Chamber Banquet is scheduled for Friday, January 28th. This year's them "Let's Fiesta". Invitations will go out this month but don't wait --  MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW -- you won't want to miss this fun event!

In February the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce 2011 Preferred Business Directory will hit the streets. There is still time to get your ad in this much-used directory. If you are interested please contact Brad Hoare at the Journal Media Group. If you have questions regarding your listing, or updates to your last year's directory listing, please contact us so we can ensure your listing is correct.

I'd like to wish everyone a wonderful and safe holiday season, and a happy and healthy new year.

We'll see you in 2011!

Jan Vance
Executive Director

Giving OpportunitiesThis Holiday Season

It is no surprise in these economic times that more families than ever are in a financial crisis, and are challenged to meet their daily needs. Throughout this holiday season please help our less fortunate neighbors by donating to one of the following causes:

The Carol Rowe Memorial Food Bank. The Food Bank serves approximately 1,200 people weekly -- 50 weeks out of the year. Food donations are being collected at these locations in Edmonds (monetary donations can be made directly to the Food Bank):

  • Carol Rowe Memorial Food Bank @ Edmonds United Methodist Church -- 828 Caspers Street
  • Edmond Chamber of Commerce -- 121 5th Ave. N.
  • The Edmonds Yacht Club -- 326 Admiral Way
  • Downtown Edmonds Chiropractic -- 115 Fourth Ave S., Ste. D

Clothes For Kids. This non-profit organization serves more than 6,000 low-income children and families in Snohomish County. The organization was recently awarded a Lucky 7 Foundation Matching Gift Grant. Anyone who pledges $100 or greater to their annual campaign will have their gift doubled. Donations can be made online. Your tax-deductible contribution will benefit many children and families.

THANK YOU AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
