From Your Executive Director |
What a great trick-or-treat night we had in Edmonds last night! The weather was lovely, the crowds were record-breaking, and the costumes were FANTASTIC! We watched little pumpkins, cowboys, and chickens, some barely able to walk, trick-or-treat from store to store. The local Monster was once again chained to the fountain providing entertainment to all as he danced and gyrated with all the little ones, as well as a few adults. KOMO 4 news stopped by and took some footage that they showed on the 11 o'clock news, and roving reporters snapped photos left and right... yes it was a fabulous night. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves! The Chamber would like to thank all the merchants, businesses, and organizations that stayed open or came down to pass out candy. We'd also like to thank the Edmonds Police department and the Explorers for providing assistance throughout the night to ensure a safe evening for everyone. Thanks too, to all the media who covered this event. With the help of many we showed everyone what a GREAT place Edmonds is to live, work, and play! Now it's on with November...
Although November is a shorter work month due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, it isn't short on Chamber activity. Your Chamber has a few things planned for this month.
On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, November 3rd & 4th, the Chamber Ambassadors will kick-off a membership drive at Arnies Restaurant. For these two days Ambassadors and Chamber staff will be on-hand at Arnies calling potential new members and touching base with existing members. While we are there we encourage ALL members to bring-in a prospective new member to meet our staff and Ambassadors, find out about Chamber membership, and grab a bite. The hours are from 11 am - 3 pm. We will be offering a 20% discount on all new Chamber memberships through November 24th. The Ambassadors have set a goal of 75 new Chamber members... more members equals more networking opportunities for all!
Thursday, November 18th is a busy day in Edmonds. The Downtown Edmonds Merchants kick-off the holiday season with the Third Thursday Art Walk and the Downtown Edmonds Merchants Holiday Open House. Enjoy art, music, and shopping all right here in Downtown Edmonds. Also on the 18th the Chamber's Economic Development Committee will present their new business forum -- 425 Launch. This event will kick-off a new effort to bring entrepreneurs together to meet, talk and informally share information about the challenges and rewards of starting a new business. It is being held at Edmonds City Hall, in the Brackett Room, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. For more information please contact the Chamber office.
Saturday November 27th is the Chamber's annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Music, carolling, cider and cookies... and SANTA of course. It all takes places at Centennial Plaza @ 5th & Bell starting at 4:30 pm. After the tree is lit head down to the Edmonds Conference Center for pictures with Santa and more holiday fun. This month we will also start working on the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce 2011 Preferred Business Directory. For advertising opportunities in the directory please contact Brad Hoare at the Journal Media Group. If you have questions regarding your listing, or updates to your last year's directory listing, please contact Carolyn LaFave at the Chamber office.
As you can see we have a lot going on in November. Please be aware that the Chamber Office and the Log Cabin Visitors Center will be closed on Thursday, November 11th for Veteran's Day, and also on November 25th and 26th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Be sure to come see us on November 3rd or 4th, and have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!
