From Your Executive Director |
Wow, what a fabulous 4th of July here in Edmonds. The Chamber is proud to produce this community event and we hope that everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did! I would personally like to THANK all the sponsors, contributors, and volunteers who helped make this day a reality. Every year we rely on Edmonds Community members and businesses for support... and every year we get that support in the form of funds, sponsorships, and volunteer hours. This year was no different. And, while we haven't yet reached our fundraising goal, we are confident that contributions will continue to come in so that we may have the honor of continuing to produce this beloved community event.
And... speaking of events, "A Taste of Edmonds" is right around the corner. This 3-day festival is jam-packed with fun, food, and festivities! Dates are August 13-15, and the hours are 11:00 am - 10:00 pm on Friday & Saturday, and 11:00 am - 7:00 pm on Sunday. We hope everyone will come out to see the great Arts & Crafts, terrific children's area, and fabulous entertainment that we'll have at this year's "Taste". If you twitter or facebook you'll want to follow the Chamber's newsfeed so you can be kept up-to-date on all the happenings. Craig Cooke of Pacific Rim Talent has once again arranged a fantastic line-up of entertainers, with headline act Asia featured on the main stage, Friday @ 6:30. This event is the Chamber's main fundraiser for the year so spread the word to all your family and friends that they won't want to miss the 28th "A Taste of Edmonds"!
For those of you who would still like to make a contribution to "An Edmonds Kind of 4th" you can do so here.
Thanks for all your support and we'll see you at the "Taste".

Ads for Edmonds is a full-service advertising and marketing company focused exclusively on helping small businesses in the Edmonds area improve their bottom line. Services include marketing consultation, media recommendations, creative services (concept, copy and graphics), websites and digital advertising and marketing. Ads for Edmonds works within its clients' budget parameters and makes recommendations based on their goals and the competition. A division of Team Watkins Advertising, a 25-year old Seattle advertising agency, Ads for Edmonds has a wide range of experience to offer. Owner David Watkins, a former marketing executive with the SuperSonics and KING 5 TV, has worked with a variety of businesses, large and small, and is the creative force behind his company. His son, Chris Watkins, is a graphics artist who designs websites, print and digital ads and promotional materials. As recently as 2006, David created a radio and print campaign promoting Edmonds as a wonderful place to visit, shop, play and live. Combined with that experience and his knowledge of the community (David lives and works in Edmonds), he is passionate about helping local businesses. As an introduction to his new company, David gives a free (you buy the coffee) 30-minute consultation. He addresses your marketing plans, where you should advertise (and where you should not), whether or not your website is actually working for you, if social media makes sense for your business, and other thoughts. Information on the offer is available at www.adsforedmonds.com Ads for Edmonds is also donating a pro-bono public relations/marketing campaign this summer and fall to a local non-profit agency. Information on how to submit your agency's name is on the company website.

Member Highlight |
He's only been a member of the Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce four months, but in that small amount of time Greg Urban has made a big impact as a Chamber volunteer. Urban is the founder of Ideas Unfold, Inc., an Edmonds-based company that offers a wide range of visual design services including: photography, video production, web design and graphic design. (www.ideasunfold.com) An Edmonds resident since 2006, he joined the Chamber in February 2010, and soon became an integral part of the Chamber's Membership and Ambassador committees. What makes Urban indispensable? In addition to being outgoing and reliable (and able to shake dollar bills out of unsuspecting visitors to Chamber networking breakfasts), he is the master of the 140-character message. Using the popular Twitter social networking application, Urban releases a steady stream of messaging about Chamber events - reminding both members and prospective members of time, date, location and benefit of attending. It would be no surprise to Chamber members that Urban has also organized two successful "Edmonds Tweetups" - essentially social gatherings of over 60+ Twitter users who have an opportunity to meet the faces behind the Twitter name on the computer screen or mobile phone. "I wanted to engage people and get them more active with social media," Urban said. "It's a great business tool, and more and more people are starting to understand what it can do." When he isn't tweeting, Urban runs Ideas Unfold, Inc., which provides a wide range of visual design services for both consumers and businesses. Need commercial photos of your building? Ideas Unfold can do that. Want a video of your business suitable for YouTube or DVD? They can do that too. And if - as you prepare to post those photos or videos - you realize that your site needs a redesign, they happen to design websites. See the website they made for Glazed & Amazed. (www.glazedandamazed.com) Ideas Unfold also designs corporate logos and shoots photographs for business, families, and events. The name Ideas Unfold came from his interaction with business owners. Following meetings they would always express how overwhelmed they were with new ideas and ways to approach their business. The phrase, "You have so many great ideas" was a constant theme and soon morphed into the name of the company, Ideas Unfold. Greg Urban

Description: Today's Internet tools aren't just helpful tools that help entrepreneurs save time and money. They're game changers that create new business opportunities and revolutionize business startup strategy. For example, in many cases, it now makes more sense to test a concept before extensive business planning, because the testing takes fewer resources and yields more insight than the planning. This webinar will walk you through 10 critical tools and help you understand their importance and how to use them. Presented by: Michael Simmons, CEO and Co-Founder Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour http://www.extremetour.org/
All registrants will receive a link to the webinar recording if they cannot attend the live presentation.
