Your Chamber supports candidates
Your Chamber believes in good government as a support of good business. Clackamas County voters are fortunate to have two fine candidates from which to choose for Clackamas County Commission Position 4. Your Chamber wishes that both the challenger, former State Representative Tootie Smith, and the incumbent, Clackamas County Commissioner Jamie Damon, could serve on the Board. Each candidate has talents and experiences that would benefit the Board. Both are able advocates for rural Clackamas County and support economic development through controlled logging on government lands.

Labor Day Appreciation
This Labor Day weekend showcased the best the Northwest has to offer - sunny warm days and cool refreshing nights forewarning that fall is just around the corner. The perfect end to summer as many of us got in one final camping trip, boating adventure or made the annual trek to Salem to enjoy the State Fair. But Labor Day is much more than a long weekend holiday to celebrate summer and ring in fall. Labor Day is a fitting celebration of the spirit and commitment of the American worker - a time to honor and celebrate the most important and valuable part of our businesses - people, our workers, the teams that help our businesses thrive and fulfill our missions each day. Labor Day has been celebrated in the United States in one form or another for more than 100 years. The national holiday was officially recognized in 1894 as a tribute to workers across the nation. There are many different traditions to celebrate Labor Day, but the best tradition for us as business owners and managers is to say thank you to our employees and let them know how much we value their work and the contribution they make to successfully meeting the needs of our customers. Let's make certain we share our appreciation in a special way as we celebrate Labor Day and then make it a habit and say "Thank You" every day.

Show your true colors this fall - Donate blood at the Sandy Fire District
With the start of autumn, the leaves turn beautiful reds, oranges and yellows before the season gives way to winter. As the trees show their colors this fall, please show your own true colors and give blood. Your blood donation could help save the life of more than one person and only takes about one hour. Please make sure you find time to donate blood this month.
Blood is a medicine that only volunteer donors can give, and it is vital for patient care throughout our area and across the United States. Every day, the American Red Cross must meet the blood needs of accident victims, premature babies, people undergoing treatment for cancer, and other patients in local hospitals. Show your true colors this fall and find time to help the Red Cross maintain a stable blood supply. It feels great when you find a way to help save a life. To make an appointment at the upcoming Sandy Community blood drive at Sandy Fire Station, 17460 Burns Avenue, on Wednesday, September 12, from 2:00pm to 7:00pm call 1-800-RED CROSS or go online with sponsor code: SandyComm.
