City Council unanimously moves baseball to next inning

TriMet ridership continues to rise, call to artists, and Citizens Advisory Committee meeting
In April there were more than 8.8 million trips taken on TriMet buses, MAX and WES Commuter Rail. For 13 consecutive months, weekday and weekly trips, and total monthly ridership have increased. MAX Green Line weekend trips are up 18.5 percent. System-wide, all modes were up in all categories of ridership for April. Click for more information.
As part of the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project, TriMet is seeking qualified artists to create sculptures out of reclaimed wood for the portion of the Trolley Trail associated with the project in Milwaukie and Oak Grove. Click for more information.
The next meeting of the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project Citizens Advisory Committee is Thursday, May 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Senator Wyden to hold Clackamas County Town Hall
U.S. Senator Ron Wyden will hold his annual town hall meeting in Clackamas County on Saturday, May 26th at 12:30pm. The Clackamas town hall will be held at the auditorium at Camp Withycombe, 15300 SE Industrial Way in Clackamas. Senator Wyden has held town hall meetings in every Oregon county every year since he was elected to the Senate in 1996. This will be town halls number 633.

Boring Station Trailhead Park to formally open with locally hosted celebration
A ceremony to mark the completion of Boring Station Trailhead Park will be held Saturday, May 19 at the newly-completed park in downtown Boring. A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. The event will be hosted by the Friends of Boring Station Trailhead Park. Full article

Building our future
Join Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Administrator Peter M. Rogoff, U.S. Representatives Earl Blumenauer and Suzanne Bonamici, and project partners for the signing of the Federal Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA) for the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project! The FFGA is the federal government's commitment to provide $745.2 million, half of the project budget, bringing new transit options to communities in downtown Portland, South Waterfront, Southeast Portland, Milwaukie and north Clackamas County. Service on the region's sixth MAX line will begin in 2015. The event will be held on May 22, 2012 10am at SE 17th Ave and Pershing Street in Portland. Closed-toe, low-heel shoes recommended. Death tax harmful to Oregon economy
According to Megan Chuinard, Field Director for Common Sense for Oregon, the Oregon estate tax is harmful to the Oregon economy, property owners including: ranchers and farmers, and family owned businesses. There is an opportunity to repeal this tax by citizen initiative.
