Grant to provide vocational training, skill development and job readiness
Exceed Enterprises has been selected to receive a $20,000 grant from Kaiser Permanente's Community Benefit program to help pay for an instructor's salary to launch our Work Assessment & Readiness Program that will provide vocational training, skill development and job readiness for people with disabilities. CCC students named to All-Oregon Academic Team
Every year for the last 20 years, each of Oregon's 17 community colleges have selected two outstanding students to be recognized for their academic achievements and community involvement. In recognition of their accomplishments, Clackamas Community College (CCC) students Blaine Gobler and Kelly Ragalie joined 36 other students for brunch on Thursday, April 12, in Salem for the All-Oregon Academic Team. The Wings of Freedom (WOF) is in the process of restoring a B-17G Bomber. This project operates on the donations of many people who are interested in preserving our relationship with the WWII era and the individuals, armed services, and machines that won that war. They have a NEW sponsor driven T-shirt Kick off Fund raising for their "TAKE OFF" plan. They completed the "TAXI" phase of the project which included board recruitment, strategic planning, and a museum library expansion. An aircraft Hanger has been secured to continue the restoration of this B-17G Bomber and the non-profit is ready to "TAKE-OFF" with a Capital Campaign, Curriculum based school tours, and preservation of rare artifacts and Veterans stories. Support local annual festival
Friends of the Boring Station Trailhead Park are seeking contributions for the September 8th Celebration in Boring. This year the slogan for this event will be "THE YEAR OF THE PARK". Your gift will help make the Celebration an important day for everyone in our community. Cash donations help provide entertainment for all ages, including pony rides for children, big band and blue grass/country music, rides on a wagon pulled by Percheron horses and displays of local history. Contributors' names will be displayed on signs during the Celebration so that all can recognize their generosity. Pickathon tickets selling fast
Experience the 14th Annual Pickathon Indie Roots Music Festival at the one and only Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley on August 3 - 5, 2012. Pickathon curates the best of about 50 bands that imagination allows and is spread out over three long days and six unique stages. The 2012 Pickathon Preview playlist can be found on the homepage and also the Audio/Video page of their website. If you're are still considering your Pickathon Tickets, pick them up soon (as in today or tomorrow or later in the week if you have to wait). They can say that at the moment ticket sales are around two full months ahead of their historic 'norm' for annual ticket sales. What this means is that by the time June/July rolls around, they expect to be completely, absolutely, 100% sold out.

Boring Station Trailhead Park Grand Opening
A flurry of activities on May 19th will celebrate the grand opening of a several years' project in Boring. Beginning at 11 am the public is invited to ceremonies to inaugurate the Boring Station Trailhead Park in the middle of downtown Boring.
