Chamber joins with city to keep TriMet route to protect jobs
Considerations of cuts in TriMet routes in the Happy Valley area led your Chamber to join forces with the City of Happy Valley, New Seasons Market and the Happy Valley Business Alliance to retain Route 155.

Highway 213 closure begins March 22
A full closure of Highway 213 between the northbound I-205 on/off ramps and the Washington Street/Clackamas River Drive intersection is scheduled to occur between 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, and 4 a.m. Tuesday, March 27. An Oregon City contractor will use the 104-hour closure to safely pull a new six-lane bridge into position on Highway 213, where it will serve as a Washington Street overpass.

Boring Fire District announced award recipients during its annual banquet on February 18, 2012. Fire department members who have shown exemplary character, work ethic and commitment to service were given plaques and recognition. Full article

Parks serves as Principal for a day
Wilda Parks, Chamber Vice President of External Affairs, served as principal for a day at New Urban High School as part of chamber's community outreach. Principal Mike Englen thanked Parks for her visit. The day was developed by the North Clackamas Schools Foundation as a way for community members to learn more about the district's schools.

CCBA to hold candidate forum
The Clackamas County Business Alliance (CCBA) is holding a breakfast forum on Thursday, April 5th, for the candidates for each County Commission seat. The candidates will present their platform for office and answer attendees' questions. Please join them for this exciting event. It will be held at the McMenamins Wilsonville - The Old Church, 30340 SW Boones Ferry Road, Wilsonville, OR 97070 from 7:30am - 9:30am. Cost is $25 for CCBA members and $35 for non-members. When murder strikes at a banquet of crime scene investigators, everyone has their hands on the evidence...including the killer! It is directed by Ron K. Palmblad. Community asked to share their expertise and resources with students and families
Metropolitan Family Service (MFS) Child and Family Enrichment (CAFÉ) program at Linwood Elementary School is hosting a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Fair in the North Clackamas School District. They are looking for local professionals, educators, students, and all potential volunteers to get involved. This is the first ever STEM Fair and will be held on March 29th, 2012 from 10am - 1pm. MFS CAFE has received a grant to offer STEM education as part of the after-school services. CAFÉ is an after school program serving children attending five schools in North Clackamas School District including Linwood Elementary School. Clackamas County Community Survey shows majority support for job growth and favorable attitude toward county services
Three-quarters of Clackamas County residents approve of the quality and performance of services being provided by the county and a near majority believe the county is "headed in the right direction" according to a recently completed survey of 400 county residents compiled by DHM Research. Oregon's Most Endangered places nominations due March 26
Is there a historic property in your community in danger of being lost to hard times, development pressures, demolition or neglect? Nominate it to the list of Oregon's Most Endangered Places for 2012. Properties selected list will receive public attention, assistance from the Historic Preservation League of Oregon (HPLO) to address immediate threats and develop strategies for preservation and reuse, plus the opportunity for a small preservation grant. HPLO will announce the 2012 list during a luncheon at the University Club in Portland on May 22. First Friday Milwaukie start date revised
First Fridays in Milwaukie have a revised start date - they are set to resume in May and will run through October. A shiny new logo and website have spurred excitement as well as some additions to the same much loved format. A walking map is being created in print as well as online, with 3 vendor pods spread throughout the downtown area to facilitate a more walking friendly atmosphere. Local businesses plan to stay open late and participate by either hanging art, having music, or offering a special First Friday Happy Hour.
