Chamber member Anne-Louise Sterry wins Toastmaster Contest
Following her win at the Willamette Division Toastmasters contest in both tabletop and humorous speakers category, chamber member Anne-Louise Sterry went on to compete in the statewide (District 7) contest held at the Portland Convention Center on November 5th where she won the tabletop contest, and placed third in the humorous speech contest. Notable achievements for a very new member of the Toastmasters. Don't miss her as Mrs. Santa Lena (Santa Claus sent his replacement this year) at your Chamber's Annual Christmas Giving Breakfast!

Chamber member adds over 200 jobs to the area
Earlier this month Safeway Inc. held a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at their new location in Oregon City. The opening of this store added over 200 new jobs to the area. Stop by to say welcome and shop locally at their store located at 13434 Colton Place.

Chamber non-profit reaches community during the holidays
Parrott Creek Child & Family Services needs the community's support this holiday season. Parrott Creek, a Clackamas County nonprofit, is dedicated to giving at-risk youth the tools, skills, and emotional support they need to change, make better choices and live up to their potential. For many of the youth who come to live at Parrott Creek Ranch, the holiday season can be a very stressful and lonely time so they invite you to help make these holidays special for the boys they serve.

Cascade Heights Public Charter School will be holding a Family Dinner Night at Pietro's Pizza on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Both are Chamber members. Pietro's Pizza will be giving back 20% of the sales designated to the school! Pietro's is always great and huge fun ... what could be better, pizza, friends, games & prizes!

Christmas Basket and Giving Tree Program in progress!
Each and every year, Boring Fire District manages the Christmas Basket and Giving Tree Program for its local community. This program helps create "Christmas" in homes that would otherwise never know this simple joy. The program kicked off on November 1st. Baskets are delivered that contain a Christmas dinner and gifts for each child in the home. Dinner includes canned and dried goods, bread, and turkey, enough for several meals in most cases. Clackamas County Cultural Coalition Special Opportunity Grants available
The Clackamas County Cultural Coalition Special Opportunity Grant is made possible by funding from the Oregon Cultural Trust. It is intended to provide support outside of the annual project grant cycle for unanticipated events, opportunities or unforeseen needs. Any County-based individual or organization with a need related to arts, heritage or humanities AND their need aligns with at least one of the Coalition's Funding Priorities may apply for Special Opportunity Grant assistance. Sojourner School seeks community rep
Sojourner Elementary School, a public magnet program in the North Clackamas School District, seeks applicants for the community representative position on the school's Board of Directors.
