Leadership Forum Luncheon

Bringing diverse groups together with Secretary of State Kate Brown Registration requested by October 21, 2011 Join Secretary of State, Kate Brown, and the 2012 Class of Leadership Clackamas County (LCC) and Clackamas County Young Leaders' Project (YLP) on October 26 for Your Chamber's annual presentation on Leadership. As leaders, one of our challenges is getting diverse groups of people to come together to work on goals that benefit our businesses, our community, even our future. Secretary Brown will share her experiences as a leader bringing people together. As a former Oregon State Senator representing Milwaukie and SE Portland, we welcome Secretary Brown's perspective she brings to our topic and our local community. 2011-12 sponsors for LCC and YLP are American Medical Response, Marylhurst University, PGE and Clackamas County.

Tourism Project Funding Meeting
Chamber seeks tourism grant projects
Your Chamber will hold an informational Tourism Project Funding meeting on Monday, October 24 for those interested in applying for funding for tourism-related projects in the Gladstone and unincorporated North Clackamas County area. Funded through the Community Partnership Program, the opportunity to apply for funding is open to anyone with a tourism project that meets the requirements of the grant and the goals of the defined area.  Take your whole family out to Eagle Landing Golf Course on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 2:00pm - 5:00pm for some Halloween fun! They will have age group coloring contests with prizes, treat bags and other fun activities including discounted miniature golf . Costumes are encouraged but not required. Grand opening and ribbon cutting at Safeway's newest store
 You're invited to join United States Congressman Kurt Schrader, Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts, and Safeway's Portland Division President Steve Frisby for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Celebration of the new Oregon City Safeway on Wednesday, November 9, 2011. The store is located at 13434 Colton Place. The Ribbon Cutting is scheduled for 9:00am. Also, two local non-profits will be receiving grants from the Safeway Foundation.

Holocaust survivor and author to visit CCC
Holocaust survivor Alter Wiener will speak at Clackamas Community College (CCC) on Thursday, October 27, from noon to 2 pm in the McLoughlin Auditorium. In his book, "64735 - From A Name to A Number, a Holocaust Survivor's Autobiography," he conveys the message that prejudice leads to tragedy, and tolerance is imperative. The presentation is open to the public, and there is no cost to attend. For more information, please contact CCC Human Resources Manager Tiffanie Clifford by email or at 503.594.3457. Supervisory training to be offered
For public safety professionals
The Performance Leadership Institute, Inc. will be offering a seminar to prepare supervisors to be effective in their leadership roles from November 14 - 18, 2011. The class is being sponsored by and held at the Milwaukie Police Department but it is open to all local government and business supervisors from throughout the Clackamas County region.

Costume inquiries are up, complaints are down
As Halloween creeps closer, shoppers are costume hunting with enthusiasm and examination. Locally, Better Business Bureau's (BBB) inquiries on "Costumes - Masquerade & Theatrical" companies have gone up, while complaints have dropped substantially.
