Chamber staff receives Key to the District
Wilda Parks, Vice President of External Affairs for Your Chamber, was honored as recipient of the Key to the District from the North Clackamas School District. Superintendent, Dr. Tim Mills, stated that, "Wilda has been a leader for this community in many ways. And many organizations know the difference she has made. North Clackamas Schools seek public input on local option possibility
As part of an exploration of several revenue-raising strategies to help schools weather the economic downturn, the North Clackamas School Board is considering whether or not to place a local option levy on the ballot in 2012. The short-term property tax could be used for school operating expenses for purposes approved by voters. The tax would last three to five years depending on voter approval. Before deciding, the School Board hopes to gather extensive input from community members through public meetings and surveys. Student shuttle provides link from MAX Green Line to Oregon City
Clackamas Community College (CCC) will offer free shuttle service from the MAX Green Line to the Oregon City campus during the academic year. The service will begin with the start of fall term and will run six hours a day, Monday through Thursday. A copy of the schedule is below. Riders will meet the Towncenter Express (TX) bus in the parking lot under the MAX Green Line stop. At CCC, the bus will meet riders near the bus turnaround at the front of the college. In Celebration of Child Passenger Safety Week Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death and injury for American children. A child's risk of injury greatly increases in a crash if they are not appropriately restrained. In an attempt to address these facts, Sandy Fire District's Car Seat Safety Technician, Nannette Wilson will be BUSY. The celebration of Car Seat Safety Week will begin with FREE car seat safety checks at Sandy Fire Main Station (17460 Bruns Ave, Sandy, OR 97055) Monday - Friday, September 19th - September 23rd from 8:30 to 4:30. No appointments are necessary!! She is also available by appointment on Saturday, September 24th from noon until 6:00 pm.

Utility Training Alliance marks 10-year anniversary
Clackamas Community College (CCC) and its training partners in the utility industry will mark their 10-year anniversary on Thursday, October 6. It's been 10 years since the college joined Portland General Electric (PGE) and PacifiCorp to form the Utility Training Alliance (UTA), uniting the organizations in education and training initiatives at the college's Wilsonville campus. The anniversary celebration begins at 10:30 a.m. with remarks from Wilsonville Mayor Tim Knapp, PGE President Jim Piro, PacifiCorp President Pat Reiten, and CCC President Dr. Joanne Truesdell. Chamber member receives Two-Star certification
 Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes is proud to announce that they are the largest restaurant chain in the nation to be Two-Star Certified by the Green Restaurant Association, an industry standard in restaurant sustainability. Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes locations have implemented measures to reduce restaurant waste and disposables, along with energy and water consumption. They have also successfully increased the amount of sustainable and organic food served in the restaurants and are now using more sustainable furnishings and building materials. |
Rivermark Community Credit Union opens ninth branch
On Wednesday, September 14, Rivermark Community Credit Union celebrated the opening of it's ninth branch in the new Progress Ridge TownSquare located at 14985 SW Barrows Road in Beaverton. Grand Opening festivities, including Cinetopia movie ticket giveaways, special saving and loan product bonuses and a text-to-win iPad2 giveaway, will continue through the end of October. Rivermark is also collecting new coats, sweaters, blankets and cash donations to help keep homeless students in Beaverton warm and ready for school.

Putting your shoulder into it doesn't have to be painful
Providence Willamette Falls Foundation will be hosting a free community seminar on understanding and treating shoulder problems. David P. Huberty, M.D., Oregon Orthopedic & Sports Medicine, will discuss common shoulder ailments and how these can be treated. Your shoulders are your body's most mobile joints, but the ability to move in many directions can leave shoulders prone to injury. The seminar will take place on Wednesday, September 28 from 5 to 6pm with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and dessert at 4:45pm. CCC Surplus Yard Sale is October 1
Are you looking for a good deal on a used computer? Stop by and shop at the Clackamas Community College (CCC) Surplus Yard Sale. The CCC Business Office is overseeing the sale of a variety of college surplus items and equipment during a yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at CCC. Items for sale include science lab equipment, automotive parts and equipment, welding equipment, computers, furniture and more. The yard sale is open to the public and takes place in the Rainbow Room, a storage building located off of Beavercreek Road at CCC's Oregon City Campus.
