The event will be held at the OSU Extension Service Office, 200 Warner Milne Road in Oregon City from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. What is Congress doing to help grow strong local communities?
It's been an interesting and sometimes confusing year for our nation's leaders, and our business community will have an opportunity to discuss issues and ask questions at a breakfast hosted by Your Chamber. The event will be presented by the Chamber's Vision Sponsors. Congressman Kurt Schrader will address fiscal reform and other business issues and give his perspectives of what is happening on Capital Hill. He will discuss a variety of issues that affect local businesses, and take questions from the floor regarding our local concerns.

Geocache challenge coins are going fast!

Geocaching is a high-tech, family oriented, treasure hunting game. GPS devices are used to locate hidden containers, called geocaches. Adventure seekers of all ages search for geocaches throughout the world and then they share experiences online. July 18th Your Chamber partnering with Clackamas County Tourism & Cultural Affairs, launched our 2011 Geocache Challenge. A strong local economy and business representation; it's up to us
Chamber members have an opportunity to be part of a collective force of business as sponsors of the chamber public policy programs. Included in the overarching area are economic development, advocating for business before government, public policy, community outreach, candidate training and, when needed, lobbying at local, regional, state and federal levels for good business practices.

Lyle Rodman memorial & celebration
The last of the "REALLY" nice guys! We will all miss Lyle Rodman! He was an Ambassador for our Chamber for the last two years. His memorial service will be held on July 29th (Friday) at 9:00 am. The location for his service will be at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Happy Valley. There will also be a "Celebration" of his life at the Clubhouse located at 13900 SE Highway 212 at 142nd Ave in Clackamas from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, July 29th.

Community festival focuses on family fun
Day in Damascus is a long-standing community celebration, focusing on family fun, great entertainment, and great food all to support the Damascus Centennial Park and other community service activities of KIWANIS! The event will be held on Saturday, July 30th, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The day begins with a pancake breakfast from 8:30am to 10:30am and ends with an after the event BBQ. |
Get involved - help shape the future of the McLoughlin area
Help shape the future of the McLoughlin area at a McLoughlin Area Plan Public Workshop from 6:30pm to 9:00pm on Wednesday, August 3rd, at Rex Putnam High School, 4950 SE Roethe Road in Milwaukie. Weigh in on the new plans and projects suggested by your friends and neighbors at the May workshop. Help refine the plans and projects to move the plan forward.

Movies in the Parks
Sponsored by North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District, FREE movies will be held throughout the area on Friday evenings beginning at dusk, usually about 9:00pm. So bring a picnic and a blanket and enjoy family movies under the stars. Friday, July 29th the movie, "Cats & Dogs" will be showing at Risley Park, 2350 SE Swain in Milwaukie. |
Rep. Sheehan spoke at summer food program event
Calls on community members to get involved in their local programs
Rep. Patrick Sheehan (R-Clackamas) spoke at the "Summer Food Celebration" in support of the Summer Food Service Program. He was joined by Clackamas County Commissioner Ann Lininger and the Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon. The purpose of the celebration event was to raise awareness about hunger, and offer children a mid-day meal while school is out. This event was also an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of community leaders and program supporters.

CCHS celebrates Clackamas community!
Clackamas County Historical Society (CCHS) will hold a fundraiser on Friday, July 29, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Singer Hill Cafe in Oregon City. Have dinner and 25 percent of the night's proceeds will benefit the Clackamas County Historical Society! Local non-profit receives award
Clackamas Women's Services has made the 2011 list of the third annual 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon. There will be a celebrate of the 100 Best Nonprofits at a seated dinner the evening of Wednesday, September 28, at the Portland Downtown Hilton. At that time they will reveal the much-anticipated rankings in the October issue of Oregon Business magazine, along with a countdown of the Top Ten nonprofits. Registration is now open. BBB Shows Semi-Annual Trends
Each quarter, Better Business Bureau (BBB) serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington tracks data to monitor marketplace complaints and inquiries. In Oregon, BBB's most-complained-about industries of 2011 have shuffled in the second quarter-April through June-compared to the first quarter-January through March.
