Susan LehrSixteen years ago I relocated to the Northwest working with North Clackamas Chamber member Rose Villa.  I knew to get-up-to-speed, that the Chamber of Commerce was the avenue.  At first, it was to market the business for whom I worked.  Then President of the Chamber Board John Blanton, invited me to my first AM Business Connection where I began to get acquainted.  I soon realized the Chamber had the potential to do so much more for me and my employer.

Women In NetworkingMarylhurst University Speaker, Anne-Louise Sterry be will sharing the power of audacious joy!  Learn how to communicate more effectively, promote team work and how to create new opportunities are just a few topics she will discuss. Her presentation teaches us techniques backed by current brain research. The luncheon will be held at Clackamas Catering & Banquet Center. Local economy to be boosted by geocache challenge that launches July 18 

 

Geocaching Coin

Geocaching is a high-tech, family oriented, treasure hunting game. GPS devices are used to locate hidden containers, called geocaches. Adventure seekers of all ages search for geocaches throughout the world and then they share experiences online. July 18th Your Chamber partnering with Clackamas County Tourism & Cultural Affairs, will launch our 2011 Geocache Challenge. This challenge will attract visitors to our area and encourages locals to explore our area. Watch for details, participate, and collect a coin.

Promoting the Community


$8 million in funding for CCC projects allows Your Chamber to remain at present campus
  

Clackamas Community College

Clackamas County legislators announced the 2011-13 capital construction budget includes $8 million in funding for Clackamas Community College (CCC) projects. The budget is expected to receive final approval before the Legislature adjourns. Funding in the capital construction budget will allow CCC to continue its work on the Harmony Community Campus Phase II project which will allow North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Development Center to maintain their presence on campus.

Movies in the Parks

Sponsored by North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District, FREE movies will be held throughout the area on Friday evenings beginning at dusk, usually about 9:00pm. So bring a picnic and a blanket and enjoy family movies under the stars. Friday, July 8th the movie, "Shrek Forever After" will be showing at Risley Park, 2350 SE Swain in Milwaukie. 
Governor appoints new members to Oregon Tourism Commission

Governor John Kitzhaber has appointed Kara Wilson Anglin, Al Munguia and Ryan Snyder to the Oregon Tourism Commission (dba Travel Oregon). Made up of nine members, the Commission provides expertise and sets policy direction for Travel Oregon staff.  "The tourism industry is an important part of Oregon's economy that generates nearly $9 billion in the state, and these commissioners will help it grow," said Governor Kitzhaber.

In the last three years, BBB has raked in 83,553 inquiries on "Landscape Contractors" in Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington. Another 34,710 inquiries have piled up on local "Lawn Maintenance" companies. Take the hard work out of yard work with a few tips from BBB.

Dan Chandler has been appointed as Clackamas County's Strategic Policy Administrator. Chandler  will facilitate cross-department collaboration to ensure the County presents a unified, consistent message in the many significant endeavors being undertaken. Community businessman becomes regional manager

California Pizza KitchenTim Elkins at California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) has been named to the position of Senior General Manager. He is regional manager over several restaurants, and travels with his new position to several western states. Meanwhile, the local CPK at Clackamas Town Center continues to be a training center for incoming store managers of the company. Elkins works with those folks, helping to train in customer and community service. CPK remains a great venue for fundraising for local non-profits.
