Local economy to be boosted by geocaching challenge
Geocaching is a high-tech, family oriented, treasure hunting game. GPS devices are used to locate hidden containers, called geocaches. Adventure seekers of all ages search for geocaches throughout the world and then they share experiences online. In July your Chamber partnering with Clackamas County Tourism & Cultural Affairs, will launch a geocache challenge. This challenge will attract visitors to our area and encourages locals to explore our area. Watch for details, participate, and collect a coin.

Chamber member present at bill signing
John Amundsen of Southwest Office Supply had the ability to testify at the hearing for the 'Buy Oregon First' bill. He was then invited to be present as the bill was signed into law by Governor John Kitzhaber. At the signing ceremony, he slipped the governor one of his company's pens to use to sign the bill. Even if the contracts are higher, state and local governments now have the option to give preference to Oregon businesses. Amundsen stated that he hopes the measure will allow his company to demonstrate value rather than just low price. Amundsen said, "I don't know if it will ever help me out. It should help me out by keeping more money in the state of Oregon. The more money there is in the state of Oregon, the more likely it is that people are going to spend with me." |
