CalSouth has done a great job letting us know what to expect for the upcoming year.
And, they have answered a few key questions that will help you understand what is expected of you when registration time rolls around for 2012.
REQUIRED EDUCATION HOURS Grade 8 - 5 hours Grade 7 - 8 hours (physical also required) Grade 6 - 8 hours (physical also required) Grade 5 - 8 hours (physical also required) Emeritus - 5 hours (Grades 15 & 16)
WHERE TO OBTAIN YOUR HOURS You may attend recognized Referee Association meetings who provide the CalSouth curriculum to earn credit (see calendar below).
You may attend the online webinars at RefereeInstructionOnLine, depending on your Grade and circumstances.
Referees may attend ANY Referee Association meeting to obtain credit, subject to the note above. However, the credit is per topic. Example, you would not earn two credits for attending the SDSRA meeting and the SDCSRA meeting if the same subject is taught. TESTING All referees in all grades need to test and pass each year. There will be numerous clinics in various areas starting in May. We will keep you posted.
EDUCATION CALENDAR The topics are subject to change depending on need and what comes out of the Regional Training Sessions.
Areas of concern are Game Management, Parents and Crowd Control, Referee Safety and other topics determined by the Instruction Committee.
